I'm curious about members experience with Brighams -- do you find the rock maple insert makes a serious difference?
I have a Falcon and a Carey and get a good experience from both systems. But I was wondering if Brigham offers an noticeable improvement.

I've never owned one, so all I know is what I've heard from a handful of people who did, which is that by and large they didn't find it made any difference. Nothing wrong with the pipes, but the maple didn't have any effect either way.

I have three. With or without the swizzle stick, the only one that passes a pipe cleaner is a straight billiard. My 1/4 bent rhodesian and 1/4 bent apple do not. It's too bad, because they're otherwise nice pipes. I rarely smoke them for that reason. I remember the draw becoming a little restricted while smoking with an insert, about halfway through a bowl. My solution was to smoke them without the insert.

I don't remember if my Mountaineer came with the insert, but if it did, I will have removed it immediately. I haven't found that inserts make the smoke any better, but only obstruct the airflow. I will say it is the best smoking pipe I have though, better than my two Dunhills and better even than my cobs. It is the only pipe that seems to make the smoke sweeter.
I don't want it to be my best smoking pipe, it's not my favorite shape (it's a Rhodesian), but whenever it somes up in the rotation, it gets the best tobacco I have.
Sample size of one.

Yeah, $40-80 bucks, and they cover all the regular shapes. Apparently mine did come with the rock maple insert, but I will have immediately removed it. Would prefer my birth year Dunhill was my best smoking pipe, but it's not, it's that stupid Brigham.

I have a couple of these and they came with the rock maple inserts. Used ‘em that way for a while, but then found no noticeable difference when I removed them. They are nice smoking pipes and quite well-made.

I don't own a Brigham, but the Savinelli filters are great at removing moisture without removing flavor. I think that if Brigham used balsa instead of maple, it would work better.

Ive been tempted by their 29 apple/prince shape. It looks to have nice proportions, but was never sure about the insert. It is good to hear that they work fine without it.

I have a Country Club, which is one of their pricier pipes. The maple inserts never really fit well and I usually don't use filters anyway. The Brighams are decent pipes with a long history in Canada.

Serious quality difference?

I have a Voyageur 154 (slightly bent billiard)... just about my best smoking pipe... WITHOUT the insert...

I just cleaned up a 3 star Brigham pipe that is a rusticated Dublin with a flat bottom. Seems like a real nice pipe. I hope it commands high doillars on the market.
