Just posted photos I took at the Angel's Envy distillery. It made me thirsty - so it's a little of their rye tonight.

They make a tall claim, but it's not too bad a whiskey. My next foray will be back into all the "Old's"; Old Grand Dad's (My favorite, will look for cask strength which is hard to find), Old Crow, and Old Overholt (America's claimed "oldest whiskey") of which, I've had all of them except the Old Overholt. Gandalf 's post about the distillery tours the other night had me digging down a rabbit hole that actually aggravated me a bit. I love Bulleit bourbon and their rye, but I was actually ticked to find out it's nothing special and that it's just made from Midwest Grain Products here in Indiana, and to also find out that Dickel is also made by MGP and "finished" elsewhere. At the end of the day, what's it matter? Well, it's somewhat like 150 tobacco blends from the same blender in that to me, I want it to be original and not just the same thing to buy as 50 differing brands that simply slap a new fancy label on it. So I guess I'm dipping back into favorites and roots so to speak. I have been liking the Basil Hayden's but for the price I will readily sip on Old Grand Dad's and like it more. EDIT: And of course, there is no such thing as a "blonde whiskey" and this shite is just owned by Diageo. LOL

The Old Granddad 114 isn't exactly Cask strength. It is cut to a standard 114 proof. My favorites are the bonded bottles.

I usually always stick with 100 proof bonded because I can't even find the 114 proof bottles. I love the 100 proof bottled in bond though.
I think I'll just buy like 50 bottles of OGD and call it a day.

It's too strong and I can't get the right dilution. If I still drank Coke it would be a good mixed drink.

I'm betting I can go and find it, or have them order it at a specialty liquor store in town here. It's more or less just me occasionally looking close by and finding the 80 or 100 proof but I do at least know a store that would get it in for me if they don't have it.

Old Forester 100 proof. Need to put another log on the fire. Happy sipping! Good lord! It's 60 degrees there. We just turn off the AC when it gets to 60. Getting old? 😉

Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout, picked up 24 bottles today...well I didn't but the wife did. That is one fine beer. Enjoy it. Perhaps one of my top three favorites. I picked up a 12 pack of Coor's Stubbies. Let me know if you want to trade. LOL! In this heat, Coor's is quite welcome. They still purchase Moravian Barley from family farmers in this valley which is why I support them. It is an inoffensive light beer.

2 fingers of Jack Daniels #1 over ice. Not the best whiskey I’ve had, but not terrible. The Partagas Black Label that it was paired with evened things up though.
