The question I have to ask is why is there often a fruit fly in my Whiskey glass? Just one, done in and floating.

I've been tinkering with making various cocktails.
Tonight I'm having a Sazerac - complete with Absinthe coated glass.

I always get grief when I order one in New Orleans, but I I'm a tourist. In making it at home you have to use very little absinthe. 3 or 4 drops is best for me. When I put in a half ounce and coated the glass the rye was overwhelmed by the absinthe. I used Lucid Absinthe, only one I ever tried. And Sazerac rye, of course. 😉

I've looked at several recipes. That is the first one I've seen that uses Bourbon, Rye and Cognac. Mine is: 2 oz Bulleit Rye, 2 light splashes of Aromatic bitters, 3 light splashes of Peychaud's bitters, ~1/4 oz simple syrup, stirred in ice, strained into a rocks glass that has been sprayed with Absinthe. I tend to go easy on the bitters. If I ever have a lemon handy I'd garnish it with a little slice of peel.

Found this thread buried in the middle of page two! Unacceptable! Having a nip of I.W. Harper 15. My son dropped this bottle by earlier (of course, I had to reimburse him). He found a small amount at a store near his house. Got me the last bottle.

Pussers Rum and mango nectar. Gee, that sounds good! I have a can of Guava nectar around. I never thought of fortifying it.

My liquor cabinet is too full and I'm trying to get it under control by finishing up the leftovers. I had about 2.5 ounces of rum in the bottle so it made me a big mug of cocktail. I wish I had a bottle of Painkiller mix. Next bottle is Pyrate Rum.

StoneHammer 90 proof Bourbon, neat.
Nothing special here. I paid $30. Overpriced.
George Dickel 12 is significantly less $ and tastes much better to me.

From all I've tasted almost any Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey or Sour Mash is better than any "new" whiskey. Especially if it is made in Texas, Colorado or Wyoming, etc. I'll take Old Granddad, Four Roses, even Jack Daniel's.

Drumshanbo. Just a splash to help ease me toward sleep, I hope. Apparently, knocking off work a little earlier than has become usual is terribly confusing to my circadian rhythm.
