We have to watch these prepared frozen foods. Some of them are junk. We learn who is worth the price and who is not. The El MOnterey Breakfast Burritos we love are fair to good. They seem to vary some on conents. This leads me to believe there are vendors preparing these items for them. I need to start noting the Plant Numbers. Stouffer's are mostly good and I am thankful for that. Marie Calendar mostly good. Ditto above Michael Angelos, Very Good. Naturally. They are good people whom I used to know. Boston Market good. Nuff said about them Yankees! I was grateful and surprised how good the last Swanson's Classic Fried Chicken TV Dinner was. I was expecting real crap. Instead, there was meaty chicken parts. The mashed potatoes and corn were tasty and fresh. Even that puny chocolate substitute Brownie was good. Sandwich Brothers are a brand worth buying as are White Castle. The Brothers make a burger in a pita with cheese and a chicken sammy in a pita. I get the Sandwich Bros. Cheeseburgers and chicken sandwichs. For when I just need something to tide me over. The Swanson dinners are what we call "Iguana Dinners" because there's no pieces that can be identified as part of a chicken. The El Monteray burritos have gone downhill a lot in the past couple of years. The last one I had was the Classic Fried Chicken. Breast halves and a thigh.Small but very clearly bone-in chicken pieces. "Classic" was printed on the carton and I have only seen that once.

When I was cooking for a vegetarians group, we called meal service, "Plop a Glop". Everything looked and tasted the same since it had the same ingredients.

Everything looked and tasted the same since it had the same ingredients. When we first got married we often ate at a vegetarian restaurant in Houston called Ye Seekers. The food was really good and different. The people weren't weird at all either. The neighborhood finally got too bad and we stopped going. The opened several vegetarian restaurants in the Heights, but they were over price. Several of the restaurants, including the one last night, offer vegetable plates, if you don't mind them being seasoned with meat. On Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday they serve the most wonderful beans as an appetizer. They are wonderful.

While staying at the Salvation Army Hotel in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1972, there was a vegetarian restaurant in the lobby. We would cue up at a small window at the kitchen to receive our vegetarian meal. Served by a mean looking old gal. No ordering, no commenting. Strictly Vegetarian. It was good and substantial. We slept four to six in a room and all my roommates were Austrian students. I was the only Yank staying there.

US military personnel were not welcome in Iceland off US military bases. Iceland, once gain ostensibly neutral as in WWII, was seriously anti-USA. I, as a student with beard and longish hair, was often unwelcome and treated with hostility by the local population. .

109 (bone in) Prime rib halved this for the small crowd, 9 pounds... tough for me, I feel it sinful not to roast an 18-22 pound roast.Lightly smoked with hickory, Off to the cooler to rest for 30-45 minutes...pulled off at 125 degrees. Roasted garlic mashed potatoes, candied yams, buttered Brussel sprouts, fresh baked rolls, and Blackberry cream pie.
