Finished the first series of the second season of Reacher. Waiting for the next two installments to finish the season. Great show. I read Season 3 is anticipated to be released in late 2025. Hope I am around for it!

Hope I am around for it! We've been binging old X-Files from the mid 90s. Watching Robert Patrick in the 30 year old show, then watching him in the current Reacher, is mind twisting in it self. I keep expecting his arm to turn into sword too.

I watched all of the episodes of Lawman Bass Reeves thanks to the reviews here…. Very good. The way it ended and reading more about his life on Wikipedia, I cannot help but think that there will be a sequel series.

I read that the series will move on to another western lawman for the next season. As far as I know, nothing announced. As mentioned previously, my vote is Elfego Baca of New Mexico or Captain Bill McDonald of the Rangers. Baca's story is quite interesting and dramatic. The gun fight he held with the Texas cowboys down Socorro way would make a great episode as it is a remarkable story. His years later as a Sheriff and then a lawyer are also interesting.

A lot of history to be mined if the studios decide to do similar shows.

Tried to watch The Bear, a new series that's getting good notice. A top chef inherits his family's Chicago sandwich shop. It seemed interesting, but way too much yelling between the main characters. Recommend if you can stand the noise.

The story I am recalling was with cowboys from Texas. Well, if they weren't working on a drive, they were probably just there to cause trouble. I hope he kept them. Texans used to be a problem for New Mexico as they often attempted to push their way around with the locals. Baca was a young man at the time and tired of their behavior. So, he appointed himself Marshall and proceeded to make an arrest of one miscreant in a saloon. That did not end well for Elfego. So, he retreated to a nearby jacal. That is a hut made from willow branches and covered in mud from the ground below. The Texans riddled the jacal with bullets. They did not realize that the floor is well below grade outside as the earth was used to mud the building. Baca was able to take cover below grade and return fire. The battle went on all afternoon and all night. Hundreds of rounds were fired into the jacal. The next morning, the cowboys figured they had gotten him so went over and kicked open the door. There was Elfego standing at the iron cookstove frying breakfast. Fit and healthy. The story goes they were so amazed they made peace and it ended there with no further shooting. Later, Baca ran for Sheriff of Socorro and was elected. He served for many years before becoming a lawyer. he is best known for sending a telegram back to a client held in custody for murder way over in El Paso, "Leaving immediately for you location with TWO eyewitnesses". I do not know if he won that case but I have to admire his droll humor, if that is what was meant.

That incident in Socorro would make for great TV viewing to launch a new series on "Lawmen:"

Watching law and order, the gal cop radios to her colleagues “ I think I have something in this building” Ice-T tells her “wait for backup” and she says ok….. no active shooter.
Then she immediately goes in solo, and the bad guy gets the drop on her.
TV cops aren’t the brightest.

I forgot to add...the SWAT team leader showed up to extricate the cop from the amusement park funhouse saying that they will use stealth. Olivia says "the place is filled with mirrors, probably not a good idea." SWAT team leader says..."you have a point" SWAT team leader might need more training on entry tactics if Olivia has to edumucate him.
Trailboss wife says "can you just enjoy the show for what it is?" Final Verdict...Trailboss wife needs more schooling on tactics.

I loved this on SHIELD. Cops on either side of motel door as bad guy shooting out the door at the,
LEADER: “45!” Then… “That’s 8 he’s empty!” And they get up and rush thru the door. There ARE plenty of 8-rd magazines. Plus, a reload takes about a second. The series could have ended right there. Maybe with an ad for Mecgar magaziines?

Pretty astute cop if they can determine the caliber of the round by sound.

My wife critizes the cop shows all the time. Her favorite exclamation is "Why didn't he/she wait for backup". I just say, yup m

Amazing how not so many years ago you would buy a 1911 and send it off at a high price to get it to work really well.

Watched the conclusion of Season 2, "Reacher". All is now well in the world. The Special Investigators, ex Army CID MPs, prevailed over the evil doers, once again. I read that a Season 3 is in the works. Should be out the end of this year or early next. Since the unit disbanded in the final episode, I am curious to see if they are re-united or Reacher works with a new crew. Fun show.

Wife has been watching The Gryphon, a German fantasy series similar to Stranger Things. It's over dubbed in English and I find myself getting into it. Some very cute parts. Every time they catch a fish it screams and moans. Set in the 90s, with a 90s rock soundtrack. Nirvana, Soundgarten, etc.
