Lee and his period incorrect pipes are still my favorite westerns. Also, I have a dvd set of a Sherlock Holmes mysteries that was filmed sometime in the 1950s. Interesting stuff. Lots of pipe smoking by Holmes, Watson, and several other characters.

One of Lee Van Cleef’s favorite pipes. Back in the late 90’s many of his Meers were sold at auction. He was a huge fan of the hobby.

I like the Westerns he plays in. Didn't he star with Clint Eastwood in all those spaghetti westerns? A Fistful of Dollars, A few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly? I watched them all!

Wish I owned one of Lee’s pipes. By all reports he was gentleman and well liked by his peers.

Lee also had a career in 1950s crime dramas. Most memorable was "Kansas City Confidential" with other great characters, Neville Brand and Jack Elam.

Lee and his period incorrect pipes are still my favorite westerns. Your worried about his pipes? Try all the western saddles that have Cheyanne rolls on the cantle and knee roll forks when saddles back then had tall cantles with No Cheyanne rolls and had slick forks back then as well as some with double rigs. Historically correct?

When I was a kid, my friend's father looked just like him. He was terrifying until he smiled, then it was almost confusing because you'd have thought he was a demonic gargoyle incapable of the act.
He was also in Escape From New York!

I remember as a kid reading a review of his movie, the author called him “Hatchet Faced Lee Van Cleef”. I think that was accurately descriptive... count me in as a fan. Saw James Coburn last night in an early Perry Mason episode... and in that episode, he played quite the jerk... deserved to get killed off.

Lots of pipe smoking by Holmes, Watson, and several other characters. The best “ incorrect “ piece I spotted was when Ben Cartwright ( Lorne Greene ) was on his horse wearing a digital watch. Way before the time period of the Ponderosa.

If you are ever eastbound on US 50 in Lake Tahoe, almost immediately after crossing the Nevada state line, looking to the left you see the Valley him and his sons ride across on the opening credits.

Watched him all my life. My favorite of his was For A Few Dollars More. And that train did stop at Tucumcare, and he and his horse got off at the station.

I just watched Lee Van Cleef in "Death Rides a Horse". He was smoking a briar with an acrylic stem. Imagine that. Who would have thought, lol.
