Knew Bob Morgan casually and he was one heck of a man. No fear, even in his older years. Went to an airshow in Asheville where the Belle came in, sitting in a hanger, doors open & she came idling just inside. Goose bumps. He was a hero of mine.

I just saw this B-17 a few weeks ago, at the Pima Air museum in Tucson, and told my son he had to watch The Memphis Belle when he got back home. He has watched twice already, and loves it. I remember seeing it when it first came out. Great movie!

The word "brave" seems insufficient to describe those men who climbed into them again, again and again. Also applies to the guys in the B-24's, as they had the same hairy missions.

Air,land, and sea.... that generation really defined heroism as they confronted truly evil forces. I get chills after hearing this fitting tribute... although President Reagan addressed the Boys from Point Du Hoc, It defines the virtues and bravery of those in the air and sea also.

25 yrs ago my Son was doing Halo jumps in England, was asked if he wanted to double team with The Old Timers. Who would say no to this. We watched on TV, my heart was so full, after the jump, marching into town, flowers thrown at them, far cry from my return from S Asia, I thru tears got a relief that my boy was honored.
