Here are the before and after shots of a couple of estate pipes I sent out for professional restoration to Cook's Fine Pipe Works on the advice from arguably the best restorer in the business. They arrived back today and are more impressive in hand than in the pics. I am beyond pleased with these results and it affirms my decision send these two pipes out. I can do basic restoration but I'm certainly not near this level. Kudos to Anthony for very fine work and knowing the perfect amount of restoration needed. They look so good I'm reluctant to smoke them...but I imagine I will. Maybe tonight! First is a 1949 Dunhill Shell LB F/T. Followed by a Four Dot Sasieni “Regent”.

Smoked both pipes this evening. WC Quints Own in the Four Dot and Red Rapparee in the Dunhill. Both smoked as good as they look. There is something satisfying about smoking a grand old pipe that is older than you are, but not by much!

Fake pipe news! These are obviously not the same pipes...... That is one helluva job pulling corpses from the grave...simply amazing. A grabow...yeah, try your hand on restoration, but a pipe with a pedigree...money is well spent on sending to someone that knows the ins and outs.....this post certainly confirms it.

That's stunning work. I'm incredibly impressed.
And I'm glad you smoked them. They are fulfilling their purpose.

Anthony ( piffyr) is a stand up guy. One of my favorite dudes in the pipe community. He does fantastic work.

Anthony/Cooks Fine Pipes is certainly one of the best if not THE best restorer out there and to top it off he puts up with me on a regular basis. He needs to get back on the forum again.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly when I unwrapped the finished pipes. I learned a couple of things through this process (at least a couple). First, some pipes are worth the extra expense of a professional restoration. Second, I now understand the standard for an excellent restoration. Third, I’ve got a ways to go!
