I'm in Chicago right now for a FInance Conference and I was lucky enough to be able to stop by Iwan Ries yesterday. Picked up a beautiful estate Castello for a great price. Can't wait to get back and enjoy the smoking lounge one day.

I need to book my room, but I plan on being there my usual Thursday afternoon through Monday morning.
I’m excited that there is a show, but I’m not looking forward to the new drive which will take me through downtown. I used to be able to stay on 80/90 out to 355 and then up.

However, they do show availability of rooms at regular rates. Will more rooms be added to the show block? |

Hi Winton! I was just trying to make my room reservation for the Chicago Show. Marriott's website is telling me that the show block of rooms is booked and no rooms are available at the show rate. However, they do show availability of rooms at regular rates. Will more rooms be added to the show block? Hopefully they can pull it off, in the case of the West Coast pipe show, when the discounted room are gone, they are gone… but you are running with bigger dogs! |

I got a reply from CPCC through their Facebook page. They’ll be contacting the hotel today and having the room block size increased. They’ve had to do this a couple times already.
I have run several conferences which were held at Marriott owned hotels. As part of the contract for ballrooms, meeting rooms, and catering, a minimum number of room nights is agreed to which if not met leads to financial penalties. They block that number of room nights across the event, but the nights at either end of the event will have less rooms allocated than in the middle. I probably hit the issue because I included Sunday night when a lot fewer people stay. When your room block fills, you can ask the hotel to add room nights to any or all nights and they will if there are rooms available.

Bummer that the smoking tent closes at midnight considering how late things normally go. I’m assuming it’s because either permits/ordinances in the new municipality or a hotel policy.

My alarm normally goes off at 4:30 am. I remember walking in the tent with no one but me and the staff starting the coffee urn. How am I going to survive without coffee?

Bummer that the smoking tent closes at midnight considering how late things normally go. I’m assuming it’s because either permits/ordinances in the new municipality or a hotel policy. If you set up for yourself and a few buddies, you can get lawn chairs and a table dirt cheap at a thrift store, set up outside the tent later. The wife and I go to a thrift store in Prescott for the Christmas festivities at the town square, but do not want to pack chairs. There is a thrift store across the street, we buy them and set them at the back door (donation door) if we don’t give them away to people near us. |
