To recap— last year I was diagnosed with a fast-growing, aggressive case of prostate cancer. Got myself a Gleason 9— which is the worst you could have. Had a Radical Robotic Prostatectomy in May. Didn’t work. The cancer was back. Best alternative at that point was a rigorous course of radiation: 38 daily back-to-back treatments at a specialty facility that involved 160 miles of travel on every one of those days. Then a cool-down period of a month followed by a check-up (blood panel) to see if it worked. Today was check-up day. It worked. The doc is very happy with the results and says they couldn’t be better. Another check in three months to be sure all is well. I’m sure that the Good Wishes from my friends here did not go to waste! Thanks. But the real reason I shared personal stuff here was to impress upon you guys the need to stay on top of this prostate thing. I had yearly panels and still the Bg C managed to mount a nasty ambush. Nevertheless, it is absolutely necessary to have those panels done and act upon the results. Caught early enough, even an all-out aggressive attack can be defeated. But not unless you know such an attack is underway. ‘Nuff said? I sure hope so. Thanks for reading…

adding my good thoughts Bob. My PCP told me last year (& know you've got one on me), no real need for the "scopy" anymore, if gets it, real slow moving. Besides, no coverage on my Medicare Advantage. Can get one, but outa my pocket. I'll take chance.

That is really great news, Bob. I and the others here expect you to be around giving us good advice or Hell, as the situation requires, for a long time yet to come.
Your advice is sound and I need to have my 70 year old test. So, I will make a point of stopping at my Prostate MDs office tomorrow and see what I can do.

Fantastic news, brother. I took the same advice a few years back and was told to wait until I was 50 before getting it checked again. Always good to be on top of this. I'd hate to be sitting on something and not know it (excuse the pun).

Plainsman, glad you had a good report on your treatment. I hope your progress continues to be positive over the comming months and years. Radiation treatment is hard on the body and it is effective. I wish you the best.

I am not using mine anymore, can I get a check, too. Oh, that Joe Biden and the Democrats! What will they come up with next??? Oh, and the New Mexico Income Stabilization Bureau has approved me for Family Planning counseling. Is that nice or what?

Waiting on my MD to write a PSA test order. It seems he has to think about it for a while!

I'm going to get another full checkup in September to make sure that the cancer is still gone. I sure the doctor will check the dipstick while there. My PSA always runs 0.01 or so.
