I first heard that on some college radio station whilst on a road trip. It elicited a few LOLs. I near soiled myself the first time I heard it. It was like, imagine any of a dozen old peckerwoods you knew growing up were president of the United States, and wanted to buy pants. |

Interesting article, though it seems unnecessarily accusatory in tone. As I recall, and it's been a while, sexual selection (as distinct from natural selection) has been known since, well, Darwin. Biologists immediately after Darwin tended understandably to follow his trail, and their students followed theirs. As people kept pushing farther down that trail, the other one got largely left behind. There was no, "Oh, vaginas. Who cares about those? Penises rule!" The historical accident of the discoverer of evolution being a Victorian English person just set things on a track where vaginal evolution gradually fell out of view as a subject of investigation.
Put differently, the historical accident set evolutionary research twisting one direction, and vaginas twisted the other. Nobody did it a-purpose.
(Do I win for most uses of "vagina" in a Briar Patch comment?)
