Still on the aromatic wagon with my Carolina Deluxe/Pastry mix. I wish I'd tried more of McClelland's aro offerings, the only other one I've smoked was Town Topic, but all three were top notch, as one would expect.

Rattray's 3 Noggins in my Erik Nielsen blasted oval shank bent Rhodesian. I had a busy couple of days and didn’t have time to post smokes. Sunday was the 74th annual Michigan Regional Pipe Smoking Contest near Flint My time of 1 hr 10 min 0 sec was good enough for second place. Then, last night, I headed over to Grand Rapids to judge/timekeep for the Furniture City Pipe Society annual club smoking contest.

Braggin' Rights for a year and I get to be in a cool winners photo: (I should contact Sykes and ask for a promo royalty from SP 😂😂😂 I always seem to forget to wear my pipe club shirt when I go to these things.) The drinking cups in the prize piles will be engraved with the name of the event and the person's name. We used to give trophies but those got expensive and just collected dust. Then we went to plaques. We finally realized that engraved drinking cups would be both useful and economically reasonable. A better pic of my prize pile without the cup which is off being engraved: The Churchwarden has been rehomed to a friend who has been wanting a pipe like that after seeing another friend's pipe just like it. The pipe in the center is a Spaniola's Pipes pipe. This is the line in addition to Cayuga which is made at Paul's Pipe Shop. Spaniola’s Pipes do not get oil cured or the bowl coating of a Cayuga pipes. In general, there are two types of Spaniola's Pipes: ones that are made from unfinished Cristiano/Calabresi stummels and ones that are made from stummels turned in the shop. This pipe is one of the former. I have another Spaniola’s Pipes pipe which is of the same type and is a great smoker.
