Got the new Butter Scotch Black Cavendish from Wilkes in the mail today. Sweet and a good butter scotch flavor - in an old Custom-Bilt billiard.
Later tried Wilke's Surbrug #176 in a Soren freehand.

I gravitate to pokers and pots for English mixtures and apples and billiards for virginias and flakes. Am I on the right track? I find it has more to do with chamber size and not pipe shape. For me: Narrower chambers tend to like Virginia. Wider chambers tend to like English or Burley. I avoid narrow "deep" chambers as I find them hard to keep lit in the last half of the bowl. For me, I define an average chamber as 0.75” x 1.5”. So, narrow is < 0.75” and wide is > 0.75” and deep is > 1.5”. I find 0.75” x 1.5” chambers to be the most flexible and can smoke any type of blend. I have that problem with this: 0.72" dia, 2.06" deep

War Horse Green in a MM Pride. Plain seltzer with. Silver Hey, Pete: Boston at Detroit at 7:30 EDT. Bs had an OT win last night, so I hope they're rested. Bruins shouldn't have much trouble tonight.

Last smoke of the day, Fred the Frog in a Pioneer calabash That one's new to me. Whatizzit? Fred the Frog is a Dan Tobacco product. Best way I could describe it is a Virginia/Latakia blend (at least that is all I can pick out of it, could be more in there) with a anisette topping (I also believe there is another flavor component in there but I can't tell what it is). Somewhat sweet but not overpoweringly so. The flavors balance about evenly between tobacco and toppings. I would post a pic of the tin, but I haven't gotten around to setting up somewhere to upload photos for posting yet. The tin has a cute little frog smoking a pipe on it, probably not surprising owing to the name.
