In just a few hours I will have an external version of a spine stimulator placed on my back for a week long trial. If I respond well to this I will then have one permanently implanted into my back to give me a much better quality of life and end this pain I have, Keep those fingers crossed!

Thanks everyone! This will not be a cure but will reduce my pain and give me more mobility and let me do more.

Hope you fare well! Maybe we can do a group buy....I recently sent some more legislators letters asking them to pushback against the FDA regs....got one response and it was a form letter, speaking in generalities, nothing about the specifics I mentioned. Your spine is in far better shape than theirs.

I certainly hope it works for ya sir. I had one a few years back I picked up from a friend and sold it because at the time I didn't have a use for it. Now that I could really use one I can't afford one. Just goes to show ya what ya get rid off you always seem to need the most down the road. Thank god I never owned a iron-lung.

Well let me tell you all what it was like. I was given Valium to take before i arrived at the doctors office so I would be calm and relaxed for this procedure. Well let me tell you... I wasn't totally relaxed and as a matter of fact I was very aware of what was going on. Imagine if you will, laying on your belly and having someone take metal clothes hanger and jamming about 7 inches of the darn thing into your back and then taking a rather circuitous route to the exact spot on your spine,,all while telling you "try not to move mike" I can honestly say that is very high on my list of "Things that REALLY suck that happened to to me"!

Oh Gees! The one I was talking about had just little probes that stuck to your skin, not actually into you. I just love it when Doc's do dumb stuff like that. Same thing when they stuck a needle in my spine, can't remember what they called the procedure but, after a month or two of them doing it every other week they found it wasn't working......Duh! Hope it does ya some good sir, I know your pain.

I wish you the very best of luck, my docs have brought this up with me and I keep putting them off, as I've heard mixed reviews about the long term efficacy of the stimulator. I truly hope that your pain is relieved and your mobility is enhanced.

Welp, the spine stim trial was an epic fail for me.It did relieve much of the pain I usually had but then when I did have a pain episode it was off the charts. One burst of pain was so bad it knocked me so off balance I fell into my kitchen counter. The next day I was sitting with my son on the floor for a few minutes and when I went to stand up the my effected leg leg started to tingle and pulse and then both of my legs buckled and I fell and it took everything I had to turn myself so I was able to fall into the living room recliner. The Docs say there nothing more that can be done and since the meds can keep me functional to stay with my currant treatment. If it does get worse then we can discuss a pain pump. I was told I am free to do what I am capable of doing and remember not to over do anything.I have not been released to return to work at this time either.

Sorry to hear that sir, hopefully with a little relaxing your episodes will not be as often or severe. You are lucky though, at least you can take the pain meds. I can't take them because all they do is wire me up and do next to nothing for the pain and they won't prescribe anything stronger. Doctors today, they think everyone's a drug addict. Get rest and limit yourself to activity and with any luck it'll become a bit easier.
