I'm not too sure of what's happening. I seem to be enjoying my pipes more and more . Perhaps it's the warmer weather. Perhaps my pipes are being broken-in. Maybe my palate is developing. I seem to be tasting the tobaccos more.
For me, smoking my pipe is like wallowing in a bathtub filled with warm water. It is totally relaxing. I clear my mind and just focus on the taste and the scent of the tobacco. It doesn't matter which tobacco I'm smoking as long as I enjoy it. Occasionally I'll sip some ice tea after several puffs. I further enhance my enjoyment after the smoke by logging the experience in a wonderful series of databases which I have created on my iPhone. I do this while allowing my pipe to cool down before cleaning. These databases contain pipe info, tobacco info, pipe rotation info. enjoyment ratings etc. It is quite comprehensive.
Another aspect of the hobby which I enjoy is acquiring a new pipe. This can be a bit expensive so I have to be careful.

If anyone has any other suggestions for enhancing the experience, please let me know.

I'm sort of the opposite: smoking a pipe helps me concentrate on something else. Could be a book. Could be music. Could be the world passing by. Smoking a pipe leads to any of these things provoking more interesting thoughts.

I like your Process, madam. I find the pipe relaxes me too. I can't really taste anything, but I do notice differences in tobaccos. I also used to log my thoughts (when I first started out), but that quickly got lost by the wayside.
