Probably just as well. That guy in "Band of Brothers" always wanted a Luger. When he finally got one, he accidentally shot himself.

Lugers feel really nice in the hand, but take some getting used to if you are a 1911 guy. Grip angle radically different. I always wanted an Artillery Model. Shoulda got one when they were $125. Of course, that was Real Money.

They were always expensive for good, numbers matching examples. I bet that $3k doesn't get you m these days.

Lugers have always been pricey.
Gun prices now are insane. I will not be buying anymore unless I can find a seller who has not lost his/her mind.

I had a lawyer client who showed me his Luger. It was pretty cool, but the real prize was the frigging Nambu he'd received in lieu of lawyer fees. And yes, the guy got it off a dead Japanese officer somewhere in the Pacific. No idea what those sell for - not good for shooting, but more rare than a Katana. It was spooky to handle.

I'll be getting a couple of my grandfather's Lugers.
I've been looking at getting a Christensen Arms MPR in black or desert brown chambered in .308 Winchester and these puppies go up there, too. This one is $2,400 brand new though. Thinking of buying one for my birthday.
Christensen Arms MPR Black Bolt Action Rifle - 308 Winchester - The Modern Precision Rifle is an ultra-lightweight chassis rifle designed to break with tradition. Beyond the folding stock the complete package is well equipped with a target contour Christensen Arms carbon fiber barrel, carbon fiber comb, free-floating carbon fiber handguard, and 20 MOA rail. The action and stainless steel side-baffle muzzle brake are finished in Black Nitride for a sleek look.

I love .308, I've got a Remington 700 .308 which is traditional and nice and all but I want a tactical version that's more lightweight and modern.
- You could settle for one of the newer Ruger Mark IV Standard types that look like a Luger and were based on the Nambu. Those go for $500-800 depending on model. Not got the historical aspect of the German Luger but at least you can fire it all you want.

Just rec’d 1000 washed & cleaned mixed 308 cases. Sorting them now for reloading. Have lots of FC and PMC, which I find to be good brass.

The .308 is a great round and will do the job. If it doesn't, you need a Howitzer. youneed a howitzer.

All I have left for .308 is one box of Hornady boat-tailed hollow points, American Sniper. Fortunately even though prices are up they're always available at my local Sportsman's Warehouse. Haven't shot any .308 in a few years though.

One of my uncles brought a Nambu back from his adventures in the Pacific with the USN Construction Battalion. He had a scrap with the Japanese in southern China. Took the pistol from an officer POW. It was the first handgun I fired at age 12. Had to be manually operated and cleared as it would jam on eject every time. Could have been the ammo? Not a great gun piece. As you say, rare enough to command a price in rubies.

I've never seen a Nambu in person, but I've seen them go for as low as $1k on GunBrokers, and a high of around $2k. They're considered one of the worst pistols of all time.

Handling the guy's Luger, I didn't know where it had been, but that Nambu I kinda did. It was eerie. Worth more than a dollar amount.
