I like it. I may be in the minority. It's got a fair bit of topping. Closest thing to an aromatic that I can enjoy.

Initially, I was upset with the 2021 release with the casings. After a year in the jar? Great stuff. I was told the 2022 release is less cased, but it speaks volumes that every C&D Small Batch blend ever made has sold out within 48 hours. This 2022 Eight State Burley is still available one month after release.
Mark - The casings are a little vanilla and sugars. I ended up trading away I think it was 4 of my tins to Silver ? I bought 15 but only ended up keeping a total of 4 tins. |

In my opinion, the 2021 release will do extremely well once it has at least a few years age on it. Large improvement at the one year mark test. I smoked up one tin fresh right away and was disappointed that the heavy casing was not mentioned in the release info or on the tin description. I then opened a second tin, jarred that and had a smoke of it on the 2022 release day. Surprisingly, the Oriental and burley were peeking through and by the end of that sample bowl from the jar left sealed all year, I was impressed. |

The tins I have from @zach are sleeping in the cellar. Smoking from a tin of the '22 release. Definitely vanilla in there, but jar note might suggest some fruity and boozy, too. Not overly done. But, you definitely taste it.

Black House and Escudo are good smokes. Whatever the Eight State turns out to be, you got yourself a good Balkan and a good VA/Per.
And those BJ Long pipe cleaners. They've got notes of citrus, grass, dark fruits, smoky sweetness, kung pao chicken, and nacho cheese.
