This is a thread to talk about your favorite pipe, if you happen to have one. Mine is a Le Mans, a French made Comoy's pipe from around 1960 I would venture to guess. It came to me in my first lot of estate pipes and I had intended to sell it. It was my first buffing casualty, as I snapped the tenon off. I figured the pipe was worth twice as much as it would cost to get a new tenon for it. Therefore I decided to have it fixed and keep it for myself. What a stroke of luck! This pipe not only has very nice grain, but a perfectly sized bowl and the damn thing just smokes perfect every time, every frigging time. It brings out the exact flavor I expect in every tobacco. It is my go to pipe to decided if I like a tobacco or not, as I know this pipe will provide the best flavor that tobacco has to offer. It never smokes wet or gurgles, always smokes to the bottom. I could write an essay on the damn thing I like it that much.

Jeez, Sam... this is a tough one. I'm gonna have to put a bit of thought into this... but now you have me thinking.
It might not even be a regular smoker...

So, this was a tough call. I have plenty of pipes that I enjoy and call to me, most of which are my Scotties. As I thought about it though, it seemed that one always seems to just be a natural that I reach for. This was #3 and was actually supposed to be a reject. Scottie found a tiny hairline crack on the shank and was just going to toss it. I said finish it up and I'll still take it, no point in sending a good pipe to the pipe graveyard. With the stainless tube, that crack is never going to be an issue. So finish it she did, slapped on a cool contrasting bakelite band and here it is. It's not the prettiest (Scottie will probably kill me for saying that) but it smokes like a champ and is a perfect clencher. It smokes dry, smokes cool and just performs well. There have been plenty of times that I have grabbed this over more refined pipes to take with me to pipe club or out and about. Like I said, just something about it.

samcoffeeman, that's a hell of a fine looking pipe. Visually I can see why it's a favorite and from the sounds of it, it does the job functionally as well. sparks, doesn't look like a reject to me. I'd smoke it. My favorite is nothing special. And old Grabow I have had for about 20 years. Simple, reliable and smokes the codgers like a champ. If I can find a damn picture, I will try and post it. I have never been much for fancy expensive pipes, not that I don't appreciate them.

Especially tough decision but I'll go with my Gabrieli bulldog. I commissioned this from Dan Chlebove a couple of years ago and it is the second of five pipes I have by Dan.

This is a great topic and though I have about 70 pipes it is an easy to answer question. My favorite pipe is my Nording Bear. I actually like it so much that I have two of the same shape, but they are each a little different so I can tell them apart. This one is number one. It was a gift from a dear friend. He had given me one once before but it got stolen, so he searched high and low and found this one in Denmark. Then he surprised me yet again with his immense generosity and ordered it for me and had it shipped as a surprise to me. It is my most precious possession and my most smoked pipe. I framed the Nording insert with the label from the company where it was ordered from and the stamps. Here is a pic of that and the pipe. Also got to meet Nording a couple of years ago and had him sign the sock.

Tough call, but one pipe that comes to mind is my first Ben Wade Denmark. It was a Golden Walnut with a flat finish. Beautiful pipe that I believe was carved by Winslow, due the pipe's design.

guess will have to be a "spoil-sport" on this subject. As of '12, my collection is complete. (Makes sense at my age of approaching 79). I'll just go with.....
whatever I happen to have either in hand or mouth at any one time. Long as it hasa Lucite stem am good to go
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY pipe/cigar since '62

Having over 100 pipes it's hard to say but If I had to it would be anyone of my 20 Edward's I've bought over the years. They were all bought in the '70s/'80s except for 3 used ones I got this year which are from the '70s. I have smooth and blasted models and they ALL smoke cool, and smooth. Have to say they made really the BEST pipes ever! But that's what you get with oil cured Algerian briar !!

This is "my usual". I didn't even finish the stem on it. It's the little pot that could.

Congratulations on resurrecting a thread that has been sleeping for 2.6 years. I thought the thread was interesting and worth a number of additional favorites.. Do you have one or two Ron? I have a couple of Radices that make me smile whenever I pick them up, but I can't say that I have one favorite. Maybe a dozen. No, more than that. 10 Radices just to start. Then the Winslow my wife gave me when I first started the pipe again. The special edition Peterson gold spigot that smokes like nothing else, the 1950 Dunhill Root Briar birthday pipe my friend gave me. A couple of customs made just for me by pipe makers that are no longer in the business. A couple of Danish freehand made by the hands of Preben Holm, and a few more. So, no.

It's great for Five Brothers and/or Dark Bird's Eye. I've been gravitating towards smaller bowls lately. They provide a larger variety of smokes per day.

Instead of favorite pipe I’ll have to say favorite shape of chamber. I’ve noticed when I smoke most of my thick walled Dublin whether straight or bent,I get such a good smoke I start looking for other Dublin pipes. I really like my iL Ceppo Dublin.

I have a Castello Oom Paul that I really love to smoke. It is used to smoke only one blend, a homemade one called Pebble Castle that I get from a friend of mine on BoB. Is is an effortless smoker.

Like the others members, that is a tough call...but I have 3 that are right up there together, the "ruby" because it was a gift from brother Scrooge, and the RdPipe, because it was a Christmas gift also from a great brother ( Ron), and the last is a Yello-bole Canadian as it smokes everything just perfectly.
