Welcome aboard. I'm nowhere near you, but you've got a couple of good shops there and, as mentioned, the upcoming show, where you could meet some locals to puff with. Sounds like you've got a nice cellar. Well admittadly urbino, I gave it a break for a few years but went on a buying spree right before. The great Dunhill scare put me in 3 tins each of Early Morning, Nightcap, 965 and Elizibethen and a couple others I have only cracked one each of and the Eso I found at a place in Salt Lake called Judys smoke shop (I believe, its been 4 years). He was a pipe lover's shop and I dont know how was up to his ears in Eso of all types so I filled a pile of Masons and filled the cabinet. I am by no means an afficianado but that shop made a fella want to stock up so all those goodies have been in my cabinet for years. When my break was over it became my treasure box.

Welcome to the Patch from central Illinois. Ahhh Molto Dulte, the undeniably most popular blend for a room full of those who don't smoke a pipe and a pretty dang great strollin around with a sweettooth! You gotta remember to leave your pinch on the counter a day before to keep it lit tho!

Please do not take this as a kiss on the ars to anyone first off. But I will say, am obligated to say, I cannot find a pipe snob anywhere (in my 3 seconds of experience here at least) on here. I really love to chew the fat about this subject and lets face it we are not plentiful by any stretch. In a tobacco, closest I'd ever call a pipe shop, in Salt Lake the owner said to me, "Most of my cigar guys are (and I paraphrase) snobs, but all of my pipe guys, gentlemen". That has not always been my experience with pipe guys/gals but so far, you cats are are a class act for what its worth. Thank you all again for having me.

Sounds like you've got a nice cellar. Urbino, where I am in Naperville the local "shop", if a respectable and humble man can call it that is called Burning L''f, and has a GORGEOUS smoking room to smoke cigars till your hearts content. You can even bring your own liquor to drink and share but what you cannot bring is your PIPE, or PIPE TOBACCO. I'm all ears for a better shop within an hour if you'll share. I love an Oliva V, but I wouldn't cry if someone was smoking CB next to me because the room note offended me but maybe I am not sharp enough for the two to argue in my nose.

I was going by the part of your intro that says "Chicago area." Chicago has Iwan Ries, which is very pipe-friendly, and someone recently mentioned another good Chicagoland shop. Maybe in the Chicago Pipe Show thread?

Maybe in the Chicago Pipe Show thread? That was probably my mention of Arlington Pipe & Cigar in Arlington Heights, a northwest suburb.

Maybe when I am a little older here I will start a thread entitled, "US Pipe Friendly Smoke Shops" because as a gypsy crane operator of 15 years there were few in our Great Country. But boy when you find one on your first few days in a new town you make friends by the handful. Jeanie's Smoke Shop in Salt Lake was my most staggering. There is a wall of tins a mile long and a man (or sometimes a very young and easy to look at) young lady that you could NOT stump on a single tin, can, or jar in the store. Again, love a good cigar but a knowledgeable stick man is not nearly hard to find IME

We're not perfect (far from it), and at times we do have our squabbles...but for the most part, everyone here is a decent person who will try to help others out if they can.

Trip is planned and thank you again for the heads up
