It's been reviewed fairly poorly, this and the peaty Kentucky coins they made. The Kentucky coins were on sale last I checked last week on tobaccopipes. The tobacco is not sealed inside, the boxes have been arriving to folks dinged up, and they are made in China. And $50 for a Chinese box, unsealed 1.75 ounces of tobacco!

Even if straight virginias were my thing, I’d probably still pass on this.

Does it have hash in it or what? No, it would probably be cheaper.
Hard pass for me.

Now we're getting more like UK prices (and that's around what I pay for the worst tobacco). It's about a couple of dollars more than what I'd pay for 100g of the regular 4th generation tobacco. That said, I might put an order in for a tin of 4th generation.

We love to complain over here, but that's awful. Were I you, I'd be using tons of snuff instead. Oops, I already use snuff regularly.
ETA: I know taxes were already high, but is it worse with EU stuff now? I could survive on Gawith and Germain.

Speaking to this (higher UK/Eurozone pricing for tobaccos) I only see Erik Stokkebye as a cash grabber. I now personally avoid all his blends because he seems to want to recreate Peter Stokkebye blends and make special releases of Mac Baren tobaccos in wooden boxes to fleece the US market. I've got some Evening Flake because I wanted to try it and compare it to LNF. Won't be buying anything else from Erik Stokkebye. More power to those wanting to try all the options out there and find favorites. We certainly have a lot of repacking and double-selling of the same tobaccos going on lately in this market.
Another one that flips my wig/grinds my gears: I absolutely refuse to buy anything from Seattle Pipe Club. I'm never going to pay $16+ a tin for Sutliff mediocrity repacked as something high class. I've tried most of them. Sutliff branded Balkan Sobranie 759 match, in bulk and on sale is as good as a Sutliff English blend gets, and I buy that. Not paying for rebranded Sutliff at double and triple prices for a pretty picture and marketing.

At $14/ounce it would have to be one of the finest around. I don't generally smoke straight Virginias, though there are a few I like. But most around go for half that price or less, even the limited editions. But you are getting a nice box with it. My goto Virginia has always been Dunhill Flake, and remains so (as Peterson Flake now). And as someone noted above, C&D Virgiinias can be good if aged for a few years before opening. Andre, sorry to hear most of your tobaccos are generally priced that high. That's a rough price point, though we may one day see that here in the States.

I absolutely feel no attraction toward special edition tobacco, especially not, in this particular case, at that price.

I certainly wouldn't have the amount shelved that I do. The Princess and I are planning a trip to Scotland next year. Maybe we should start coordinating. I'm already wanting to see Shetland and the Orkneys. We could pop over to catch your sermon, and I'll pack an extra suitcase with some American-priced tobaccos for you.

Check the rules… you can bring tobacco in, but if you bring it by the suitcase, good luck. I had a buddy that worked in the state department, diplomatic pouches were exempt from meddlers, that is about the only way to legally go.

A while suitcase might arouse suspicion. Lol The prices are the reason why I buy only 1 tin per month and smoke a pipe about twice a month (on average).

I haven't been much of a fan of 4th Generation releases lately. Based on the price I passed on this one.

I was immediately put off by what I thought was an excessive price. So I think I'll take a pass.
