I enjoyed his character in the movie "Miami Heat".
He had a gift for comedy.
He will be missed.
RIP, Mr. Fred.
I believe he made his movie debut with fellow Texan, Powers Booth, in the movie "Southern Comfort" around 1982 or so.

Although I really did like him as Remo Williams (a glasses-wearing Joel Grey as Chuin - not so much!) my favorite role of Fred's was as Detective Lovecraft in " Cast a Deadly Spell."

It was supposed to be a series of movies, but it didn't do quite well enough. It was based on a series of books that are quite fun reads.

I had a roommate many years ago who had the entire collection (up to that point, anyway) who introduced me to the series.

Wasn't that the one where the main character (Remo Williams) was trained in Korean martial arts?

It wasn't a Korean martial art, it was Sinanju "the sun source of all martial arts." Yeah, they were a fun read. The ones around #40 were kind of a slog to get through, but overall Sapir & Murphy did well. I've not checked to see if they're still writing. I think the last one I read was #100.

I've only read the first one. My son was into Kuk Sul Won. They claimed to be the original Marshal Art, I believe. Who really knows? Edit : They don't claim to be the original Martial Art, but that they take the best from all the martial arts.

I wish they were available in audio books.
