Daughter getting a pool. She’s been calling me about the pool, I’m going an get a bucket of chicken she says, the men working they got something to eat I ask. She says I don’t know, you think they want some she asks, it don’t hurt I say, get em couple extra buckets and make sure they got water, you know how hot it is, ok Daddy, she says. Treat people right is my motto.

A little appreciation goes a long way for us "skilled labor" people. You're "good people" Mr. Brad.

I dunno. The one cat is standing in the shade while the other two work, and the kid working below grade?
He isn’t getting any breeze… double portions for him!

They'll need a LOT of water to fill that hole.

As a pool owner, I've got to say I don't envy the poor soul that will be doing the upkeep. 🤪 😄

I’m stunned at the cost of this pool, in the 70s I got a coin your idea award at Exxon, wife and I talked about the award, I told the wife I don’t need a new truck, how about a swimming pool for the kids, well that’s what we did, 15,000, not a gunite but a liner pool. I shudder at what my Son in law is spending on this pool. My kids grew up with a pool and I was the guy who took care of it. Never regretted it, at least I knew where they were, lots of their friends over, 2 rules, bring your own towel and always a grown up watching.

Also, all the needed chemicals have gone way up in price. After this season, there's a good chance I'll convert it to a sunken garden patio.

That old pool looks pretty nice, Brad!
I have the perfect yard for a pool, I have the largest yard in the subdivision, but when we moved in the neighbor next door was very generous of allowing us to use his pool anytime we wanted to use it. But, I watched him slave away on extremely hot days, as the house behind him had giant Sissoo trees that dumped leaves. Then there are the occasional monsoon storms that can dump dirt in the pool. The last guy that owned the house next door to me admitted that the roots of the Sisoo tree are on his property, searching out his pool as a water source. And, after a certain point when it doesn’t cool down at night, that pool is too warm to take a refreshing dip into.
He sold the house, I feel bad for the young couple next door when the inevitable happens.
I know a family that has a pool service company, and asked them about putting a pool in. “ I would advise against it was the answer. The cost of installing one exceeds what you will recoup when you sell, you can’t do maintenance on it, you just wait for things to break.
If I was in Darin’s shoes though, bought a house with an existing pool, cooler elevation, no monsoon storms, and used the pool, I think I would be willing to do the upkeep.

I have a pool. Tree litter partially blocked the culvert under my road and the creek backfilled a good acre below the house. Should stock it and put a sign up on the road. Pool did I say? More like a lake.

We looked at putting in a pool when my son was about 10. Realtor friend said that we should expect to deduct the value of the pool from the resale value of the house.

I had a huge "L" shaped pool years ago. Spent more time standing on the sides of the thing cleaning and pouring chemicals into it than I ever spent in it. To me a pool is a hole in the ground you throw money into. (Same as a boat--it's just a hole in the water you throw money into).

The pump motor went out about two weeks ago and, of course, they're on backorder like everything these days. It's as warm as piss and turned green from algae. Never, ever, EVER, will I have a pool again. The upkeep is absurd and all the chemicals needed have almost doubled in price.

I did it for my 3 kids, knew where they were at, their friends were always welcome, lots of them spent the night, they knew me, didn’t stand for no Bull💩, bought a lot of pizzas, later in years one young man coming back from Texas to work in Louisiana told my wife, You know Miss Billie I felt more at home at yours than mine. It was all worth it!
