Been a Haunted Bookshop kind of day. With coffee on the front porch after rain rolled through, and a couple more times between indoor tasks and some workshop time. Thursday cob, of course.

After-dinner smoke of Haunted Bookshop in the Wednesday cob. Still over 90 here, now no breeze. Ugh. And we have only 70 here, as I write.

93 feeling like 106 at the moment. I got my outside work done early. Have to wait until 10 for the temp/humidity balance to be breathable, and by 1:30 it's time to knock off.

Holy...Our spring was cold and I'm not even sure we'll get a summer if it keeps up like that. A few 70s here and there but mostly, we've had days with 60 or so over the last month. I have been burning wood all day, every day, between Sunday and yesterday. And that's not counting the previous weeks. I have never had to burn so much wood in the month of June.

This afternoon I took my Caminetto 147, filled with Comoy's Cask#9, on the monthly ride to the local landfill. Both tobacco and pipe performed well as I relaxed in the shotgun seat. Comoy calls this one a "spiced Virginia", but to me it's a VA/ARO, with a hearty nod toward the Virginias. Not a bad smoke at all, but not one I'll repurchase.
An evening bowl of Cask #9 waits in the pipe-rest, in the blasted Savinelli Oscar.

"Fresh" Haunted Bookshop (12/21) in a Mark Twain cob. Still quite a bit heavy on the sugary vanilla casing mixture in this one. I'm spoiled for smoking mostly 2016 batch regularly. The nose of the casings will age away in the pounds in jars in a couple years but in 2016, Haunted Bookshop didn't smell like a sugar cookie. It's the VA flake they've been putting in it. It's just the nose though. Once a bowl is lit for a few short minutes, the flavor is on point.
