Back in the beginning of July I finished up one of my work weeks in Boston. I spent the night there and stayed in a really neat old hotel down town, The Parker House. Just down from there, across the Boston Common Park, as most of you know, is L.J. Peretti's. I spent quite a bit of time there, picking up a couple of pipes, some tobacco and several cigars. While there I met Nick, one of their pipe carvers. Nick was nice enough to show me the pipe carving shop located in the basement. He also showed me a couple of boxes full of stummels that one of the Peretti family had purchased back in 1920 or so. I shared with him that my favorite shape is the Bent Bulldog. He dug around in the boxes for a bit and found a carved, unfinished bent bulldog stummel. Nick then offered to finish the pipe for me and add a stem of my choice. I was stoked about the offer and took him up on it. I asked him to surprise me with his choice of stems, stating that my only request was that it be a tapered stem and not a saddle bit. Welp, today it arrived in the mail! As a matter of fact, I'm sitting here breaking it in with a bowl of Carter Hall as I type this. Here she is...

I had no idea Peretti manufactures their pipes. That’s a great tidbit of information. Thanks bonanzadriver and many happy smokes!

Just ordered more Marlin Flake and some Wessex Gold Brick I am smoking some Gold Brick with 3 years on it. Can't really say aging improved this one. Has been hard to find in the past.

Being a plug, I had to try it. But I've heard the same thing from a few other people. It's ok, but nothing special. One day I'll get to smoke it myself.

Only thing in the mail is that cheapo morta pipe from Poland or wherever. I really don't need it or anything else. I feel the urge to splurge but I just don't have any room for more pipes or tobacco. I guess that doesn't suck.

Cigars made it to Houston USPS hub so they sent them to Beaumont USPS hub 120 miles in the wrong direction instead of 35 miles up the hill. Efficiency via Ineptitude the number one goal of the USPS.
