Exotic Orange/Exotic Passion is the same tobacco. The latter is the EU version. The little EU-nannies changed the name and recoloured the oranges into a gold colour.
Yeah, now Marlin Flake will now be known as Marlin Flock, the names have been “ changed to protect the innocent “!.....lol. A few hours ago I spoke with a longtime friend from Malta using a VoIP app. He’s had the opportunity to smoke both, his comment to me verbatim “ Exotic Passion is good but I can taste and smell the difference between the two blends “. I’m the person that got him hooked on pipe smoking back in ‘87, he only smokes Rattray’s and SG blends which are more readily available to him in Europe. You may be right, Ted. Over the years and lurking on many forums Ive picked up on many occasions that there are often some differences in taste between the blends produced for the USA/export and those produced for the EU market. Examples would be the Three Nuns pouch version available only in the EU vs the tinned version. Another example is the holy Presbyterian Mixture. I'll go search for the article I've read on that and post it (IF I can find it again ). Suffice it to say that there IS a difference between the tinned versions of Presbyterian available in Germany and those I have purchased from US e-tailers. Or are my taste buds just silly?

Must be due to an inconsistency in production, as ocassionally happens with Red Orlik.

In Europe it is, but not what’s exported to the States. Drink a Heineken in Germany, then come here to the States and have a cold one....not even close.

Charlie ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ great find....a Colibri made in Japan is a work horse that if cleaned and purged properly lasts a lifetime, That was a fabulous find at that price....congratulations!! I have a slim boy with my name engraved that was given to me back in the late 70’s by a very special lady for my Birthday. I still use the lighter at times and it never failed me yet👍👌👍

Charlie, just took a quick picture with my iPad, sorry for the poor quality but you’ll get the idea. Has my initials T Z, it’s gold with wood inlay. Yup, the lighter means so much to me, that’s the original velour Colibri case, also the original papers inside as well.

I used a sniping tool on my bid, beat the other guy by .10 cents....I think my ears rung to the tune of dirtbag!

Yesterday's pick-up from the post office; a pre-birthday present from the fur-clad Panzer and his little sidekick. 1. GBD Club no. 719 - 'Made in England' 2. Bruce Peters - 'Bench Made' 'Imported Briar' 3. BBB no. 592 - 'London Made' 4. John Peel Special no. 801 - 'A Portland Pipe Made Wholly in England' 5. Stanwell
My birthday isn't until tomorrow and it'll be celebrated by popping a 77 year-or-older tin of Wills' 'Sweet Chestnut'. It was my father's favourite tobacco, which I never got to taste before it disappeared; I complained about it on another forum and a member wery generously gifted me the tin. I'm going to smoke it in my father's old pipe from 1936 and I'm really looking forward to it.

"Rattray's Exotic Passion previously called Exotic Orange,..." (From 'SmokingPipes' 5 minutes ago).

Thank you very much, Walkman, Ted and Charlie, for your kind birthday wishes. I am really looking forward to opening that tobacco. The lead seal is still intact,
but still the tobacco might have completely dried out.
