During pollen allergy season, I take various OTC meds. I get the feeling that they affect my taste buds to reduce the enjoyment of my pipes. Anyone else experience this?

Not from antihistamines or other allergy meds (I mostly don't take them), but I do remember an antibiotic prescribed after some dental work that really did weird things to the taste of the two blends I was smoking at the time. One of the blends and what happened to it escapes my memory now, but it made the Solent Mixture taste very strongly of salt. (Appropriately perhaps, given the origin of the name.)

I take 3 24 hour antihistamine tablets every day and I haven't noticed any difference.

I haven't noticed any medication affecting the taste of my pipe tobacco, but a couple years back, I made a quick trip out to Wichita and back. I noticed my sinuses cleared up while I was out there. A phenomenon I've experienced before. When I returned to central Illinois they started stuffing up again. Air pollution from local factories, I guess.
But for a couple of days, my pipe tobacco definitely tasted much better. So, I actually took antihistamines, hoping to improve tobacco taste. Unfortunately, it didn't help, but it didn't seen to hurt the taste either.
Of course, everyone is different. Antihistamines may affect some people they way you describe.
