With the help of some friends and neighbors I've spent the past few days removing my old front porch and building a new larger one.The railings should go up this week and the job will be done.It was my sisters idea. She paid for the materials. She wants me to be able to sit on the porch and smoke my pipe.

One of my favorite smoking spots, except when the heat index is 99 degrees.

My Aunt and Uncle had a front porch that had a swing at one end. Every Sunday afternoon most of my Ma's side of the family could be found relaxing on that porch, and reflecting on the week's events. I hope you find as much joy on your porch as we did on that one; it's nice to be loved, Congratulations!

That's something I could see myself doing if I had a front porch and weather to allow me to do it. It's a scene I play in my head if I ever move to USA.

That's something I could see myself doing if I had a front porch and weather to allow me to do it. It's a scene I play in my head if I ever move to USA. At 19 degrees Celsius all across Northern Ireland currently, this is the perfect weather to be sitting out on a porch smoking. We currently have 33 C and I've been outside smoking all morning wishing I had your weather right about now! 9-25C is the perfect, ideal pipe smoking weather.
Congrats on the new front porch, ! A very nice sister you have there.

We added a front porch to the house about 6 years ago when we did some renovations. One of the best things we did was screen it in. A definite must as we live in the end of the woods with river bottom swamp/flood plain behind the house. I.e. Mosquito country.

We have a front porch. We have had it fixed two or three times, over the last 30 years. It needs to be replaced AGAIN! We are having an engineer fix it, in a few days. His plan makes more sense than the previous attempts.

We had a Semi-Victorian home when we lived in California with a really nice porch. It was in the historic district so the neighbors house was the same… pretty nice to sit on the porch and chat with neighbors, and it heartened back to a better time.
Perfection executed in neighborhood watch groups!

Our contractor was getting the permeants, but the city said, he could not do the work, because the porch has a roof over the work area. We need to find a new contractor that can do the work.
