All over Texas we have Blue Bell that always has new flavors. Lots of dairies are making Tres Leches ice cream. We just picked up a tub of watermelon sherbet and it's amazing! (Seedless too!)

I think blue bunny is regional but I’m not sure. We have a lot of Blue Bunny here. In fact there are 4 tubs in the freezer now. I've been working on Strawberry Cheesecake. Made in Iowa.

Steve’s Ice cream.
Made in the home of my brother in law, fresh cream from that day, fresh berries and ingredients, not commercially available.
No contenders could ever compete.
Regional from Mulvane Kansas.

There is a small hamburger chain here in central Illinois - called Krekel's. They have about 4 or 5 places in the area. They are known for their Lemon custard. I've come fairly close to duplicating it in my own Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker.
5 1/2 cups Half & Half 1 1/8 cups Sugar 2 tbsp Lemon extract 1 1/2 tbsp Vanilla extract 1 pinch Salt 1/2 to 1 tsp Nutmeg Yellow Food Coloring

The Private Reserve brand packaged and sold by Kroger is excellent. Pick a flavor, any flavor. I believe I could eat my weight in ice cream.

Cajuns love their ice cream, hand cranked. In the Country my Grandfather had a young man, he was simple, rode a bike and did little errands for the old folks, One day my Grandfather made some hand cranked pineapple ice cream, young man was given a big helping, Grandfather asked him hoe do you like it. His answer it’s good but why you put cabbage in it. Seems he never had eaten pineapple.!

In these parts we have "Taos Cow". Made in Santa Fe now but originally from Arroyo Secco, Taos County. Excellent quality. I used to serve it at my restaurant. Pricey now but a treat if eaten infrequently. My favorite is Lavender. One might think it would come out tasting like soap. However, it is just fine. Like sniffing a plant. Jaime, the proprietor, invented this flavor for the Taos Lavender Festival some years back. It became a local favorite.

That's good stuff--the amaretto cherry chocolate is the bomb. We get Blue Bunny in KY. And Turkey Hill. And B&J was regional at first! There's a bunch of very local creameries and ice cream spots in New England. Richardson's, Puleo's, Russ Treadwell, Cherry Hill, & al. Sometimes found in supermarkets. I haven't found a good one here. Am also capable of eating my weight in ice cream.

Blue Bell will always be my go to. Blackberry Cobbler is the best! I'm currently working on Butter Crunch because Blackberry Cobbler is a unicorn around here.

A fifteen minute drive away from me is MOO-ville, home of the world's bestest ice cream. One morning, a dairy farmer woke up and had the realization that his dairy farm was located at the intersection of two state highways. So, he built a dairy out by the roads and ran a pipe down to it from the dairy barn up on the hill. Since that time, they have now grown to having four locations and regional distribution. Milk, ice cream, cheese, whipped cream… Of note is their Creamline milk which is old fashioned whole milk with the cream still in it. www.moo-ville.com/
