I think, at long last, I'm nearing the end of the madness. By the end of the month, I believe I'll be back to something approximating a normal work schedule, having not only survived the spring/summer from hell, but impressed some important folks at the parent company with the quality of my work.
I was thinking about getting a special pipe to commemorate the occasion. I started looking around at the usual places, but haven't seen anything that really grabbed me. Plenty of pipes I like, but nothing that said, "Yeah, I'm the one." Anybody seen anything recently that really wowed you (and you aren't considering buying, yourself)? Anybody have a general suggestion?
I suppose I could have something made, but I've never done that before and my brains are a little cooked to be working through a design with a maker.

Or, another way of looking at it, if you were going to get a pipe to commemorate an occasion/accomplishment, where would your mind go?

nuttenspipes.com/en/index.htm He has some pretty nice pipes. I purchased one of his less expensive ones recently. Shipping from France was fast and cheap too. If he doesn't have anything listed, you could probably send him a message.

Or you could get a Dunhill.

Congratulations on all the hard work you've been doing. Glad to hear that you're getting some recognition for it all. I think celebrating with a new pipe is a great idea. I'm kinda looking for something myself. Waiting until the right one crosses my path. Happy hunting!

Or, another way of looking at it, if you were going to get a pipe to commemorate an occasion/accomplishment, where would your mind go? I like these two ideas: top-engraved silver plaque on the pipe; bottom-case with engravings that commemorate the event.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.
That still a meer you're looking for, Pete?

Right now, not thinking meer. Something nice, though. Maybe two.

Pretty different/interesting shape! Who made it? Oops. It's an Eder Mathias. The grain, the combination of colors, the combination of briar and morta, the shape, it all spoke to me. At 2.05 oz., it's right on the upper limit of weight for me, but I loved everything else about it.

This is fantastic! The first picture immediately put me in mind of the head of a wood duck for some reason. Congrats!

Ha. I guess I can see that, now that you say it. It's a blowfish and/or duck.

My Stanwell Blowfish is one of my best-smoking pipes. Good choice.

A few thoughts: a) Pick a pipe maker that you’ve always wanted but don’t have. b) If you’re into bamboo, Mkelaw Pipes has a nice registration number era Stanwell bent Apple: mkelaw-pipes.com/the-pipes-1/ols/products/stanwell-bamboo-no-5 He has one other Stanwell Bamboo left but it’s not registration number. c) A Tom Eltang. d) A 2022 Dunhill since you’re marking an event in 2022. (Note: for some reason, Dunhills seem to be cheaper from European sites. One less step in a distribution chain? The Danish Pipe Shop usually has a good selection.)

If I was to commission a pipe it would be from Robert Perkins.

That would look great in the front of my pipe cabinet. Mine also...and yes, I see a duckling too, but not an ugly duckling , a graceful flowing duckling...you've done well, congrats!

Thanks, guys. I’ve been clenching it at my desk the last couple days. It being at the upper end of my weight limit is definitely noticeable, but it hangs pretty well.
