Questions about Peter Heinrich blends.....
I heard that a few years back, the brand was bought out and production has changed. For example, Dark Strong flake used to have kentucky and new production does not. I can confirm this, the tin I have says virginia, cavendish and plum topping. I definitely didn't detect any kentucky. Does anyone know if other current production blends have been altered? I know that Wessex took over curly block and it supposedly is not as good.

I have to defer to people with a more refined sense of taste. The two most notable examples of recipes changing that I have seen are commented on by my buddy, Jiminks. Curly block and Dark Strong flake… which are the only two that I have experience with. I can bring both of them that are older stock for you to try at a pipe club meeting, just let me know if you are interested. www.tobaccoreviews.com/Search#q=Peter%20heinrich

The vast majority of Peter Heinrich's blends were and still are manufactured by Kohlhase & Kopp. Curly Block was an exception and used to be made by Mac Baren before changing. There have been cases where Heinrich's has suddenly changed a blend recipe. One example is my beloved Blend #30. It was a VaPer + Lat and suddenly became a VaBur + Lat.

Menus for a commercial blend can often change due to tobacco availability.
