Is ok to use distilled water to bring back moisture in the tobacco? I am using a Ball jar with a seal.

Rehydrating tobacco can be hit or miss, but distilled water is the best high quality H2O to try.

What are you using to hold the water? One of those little humidifier discs? Something else?

Even though you're using distilled water, you shouldn't get the tobacco directly wet. Use some sort of indirect method like a clay humidifier tab, or even a piece of the tin paper lightly wetted.

A teaspoon in 8 ounces is far too much water. Start with a few drops on a hydration disk.

Dry tobacco isn't always a bad thing. Many tobaccos will find their way into your collection, and more than a few will be in need of a little dry time. Bone dry is not a good idea but feel your way along.

I pack the pipe and breathe into the bowl a few times. That seems to give it a bit of a kick when the tobacco is a little dry.

I don't try to rehydrate tobacco anymore. More trouble than its worth. I don't really mind smoking tobacco that's a little dry. If it's crumbling away, well, that's a different story. I toss that stuff.

Is ok to use distilled water to bring back moisture in the tobacco? I am using a Ball jar with a seal. I had some old baccy from the 80s (about 14 ounces) that I put in a huge jar with 3 boveda packs and it came back just great. I’ve been smoking it for the last 4 years and enjoying it
