They copied the Butz Choquin Originale! I hope it smokes at least half as good. This is a Butz Choquin A Metz Origine, from about 1980 if I’m not mistaken, a “re-issue” of their first pipes from the 1850’s. It smokes great. Have you smoked one of the 1850’s pipes? Whoops, I didn't read your post in the correct way. Duh! Mines the same as yours. I really couldn't afford an Originale.

I was visiting an old thread where Cramps talked about how his experience with some C&D with age on it was better than the fresh. As the thread played out it seemed that the general consensus is that C&D tins are really young with age and benefit with time in the cellar. I pulled a bulging tin of Oak Alley from the cellar tonight...holey smokes, their marketing scheme on this cellar series blend was no scheme, it rocks! thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/5047/cornell-diehlI have found this to be very true with Bijou

I have found this to be very true with Bijou True for any C&D Virginia or English blend. Yeah this one has burleys in it, (which I believed already get better with age)… but with the Perique and Katerini, it is quite a great melding of tobaccos. C&D blends a crazy amount of Burley blends, if they could operate so as to age the tins for 8 years before releasing, it would definitely affect sales in a positive way. Except for some of the moldy runs in 2016, them would be scary after 8 years.

Gawith hoggarth sweet black cherry twist in a Molina. The title of this blend is very deceptive.

Was gone out of town most of the day, and this evening while sitting out back at a fire I smoked some Sutliff Uno in a Dagner poker cob. Will be packing up a different handful of blends to take camping with me tomorrow.
FInished some leftover mixture of the Ramback Gold and 2016 Ennerdale flake.

Spent the day and evening overseeing the grilling of sausage at an Oktoberfest. Got to hang out with a bunch of good friends. Smoked Three Friars/Bayou Morning mix when time allowed. At home now, winding down with some Haunted Bookshop in the Friday cob. To bed soon, I get to do this all again tomorrow.

Up late last night listening to a podcast. Smoked first Dunhill Flane and then KBV Plague Bringer in the Castello Sea Rock Billiard. Water at my side.
