I've had this release on my calendar for months and I don't remember why I put it on there. Anyway, it's new and sounded good so I ordered a couple of tins.

Sutliff made Va/Bur/Cav crumble cakes are staple type tobaccos to me, nice middle of the road, don’t have to think about them kind of smokes. Although I have no shortage of them, I think I will grab some too.

Product Details A wonderful mild Aromatic with a base of Virginias, Burley, and Cavendish. The light topping imparts delightful notes of fruit and honey, leaving room for the tart grassy Virginias, and nutty Burleys. The Cavendish offers a subdued sweetness and rich body. To bring it all together, the blend is pressed into a Crumble Cake, bringing all thes notes into perfect harmony

I really like the artwork on the Missouri Meerschaum crumble cake release. Is it blended by Sutliff? I see the MacBarens logo on the tin.

MacBaren owns Sutliff, the birds of a feather series carries the MacBaren label, but it was tinned at Sutliff.
I am guessing the same was done for MM’s run, especially since it is only distributed domestically.

I really like the artwork on the Missouri Meerschaum crumble cake release. I got this one last year and it's just got a plain tin label on it but it's really just not good. I don't mean to hate on it, but it's like smoking a peach Swisher Sweet. I got two tins of it, and I smoke a bowl of it every few months. Will probably bust it out for a fall smoke soon. They said in the description it's not cased, and it's stored in a peach brandy barrel but it's not believable. It's heavily cased in peach and tastes like a peach cigarillo even to the very last dottle of ash. Just a heads up. It's smokeable as an occasional change of pace.
It was just at SmokingPipes for $12.99 instead of $17.99 that MM has em listed for but Orchard Mist just sold out it looks like. The #22 is still at SP for $12.99.

I also bought this last year and had the same thoughts on it. I remember when I lit it up, I thought fuzzy navel made with tobacco instead of alcohol. I don’t think it’s bad, but it’s definitely a rare occasion type of tobacco to me. I also can’t quite buy the “peach brandy barrel” assertion either, it seems topped to me. Also, I rather thought that peach brandy was made in a giant vat full of cheap brandy in which peach flavors were added, then bottled, but who knows.

Thanks guys, definitely one to take a pass on.
I am surprised that the tobacco companies from a marketing standpoint don’t invest more in artwork, some retro art, take a page from the old packing crates, etc… certainly, product quality is the most important, I am just surprised that they seem to not pursue that avenue in marketing. I guess that MacBaren did with the BOTF series.
Maybe they see European packaging standards coming our way.

I wonder if the artwork is directed at a new audience i.e. people who think pipe smoking is stodgy? The My Mixture 965 tinart looks great but it doesn't scream 'hip'.

Which European standards?
If that is the question, the combined health warnings have to cover 65% of the container.

Passing on Orchard mist.
I agree, these thread hijackers…it should be brought to a halt!
But for the sake of graciousness and for the benefit of the hobby and forum harmony, it would probably be better to shower such person with pressed 22. That would be a more effective way in changing ways, than otherwise.
Kindness usually pays large dividends to the sacrificial donor too… it really is a win win.

I'd almost be tempted to order a tin myself.
