I've recently got a V60 brewer and a decent hand grinder for coffee.
Any one else here trying to go a bit better with their coffee?

Ive been hooked on a French press for a few years now. I've thought about trying a pour over, but my French press already does the job perfectly. I grind my beans a lot smaller than I "should," but it makes a strong cup.
The only improvement I can think of ... autobrew.

French press when I have the energy, drip on the weekends and lousy k-cup coffee most of the time. Got a nice cold brew set up a couple of years ago and it's still unopened.

I generally have 1 cup from the V60, then another cup or two of the regular drip coffee. I really do prefer the pourover, but the time is a consideration.

A friend gave me a v60 filter system, but I don't have the special kettle to get a consistent flow. However, I use an Aeropress and it makes fantastic coffee - often better than I get at a coffee shop...and it costs WAY less than an espresso maker.

I bought a Bunn VPR in 2002 and it is a tank, coffee in about 2 minutes, perfect temp. It is a pourover coffee maker

I used to use only whole beans. I had a Bodum vacuum coffee machine and a French press, but got rid of them both once I got hooked on Cafe Du Monde coffee from New Orleans.
It has been made the same way since 1862 and has Chicory in it. I make it strong and my cheap Mr Coffee makes it perfectly every time. I have tried going back on to beans and grinder a few times over the years but always end up back on Du Monde. The place itself in the French quarter is open 24/7 365. It sells coffee and Beignets which is a fried dough thing with tons of powdered sugar on them. They are amazing and you can make them at home if you have a deep fryer. They also sell Orange juice but nothing else is on the menu and the place is always crowded day and night.

Last time we were there it was almost impossible to get in and you had to scream your order. We now go to the suburban locations that are like a Starbucks, but with better coffee and beignets.

Mostly an Italian Mocha Pot. Occasionally, a Turkish cezve.

Mostly an Italian Mocha Pot. Occasionally, a Turkish cezve. "The Mocha coffee bean is a variety of coffee bean originally from Yemen. It is harvested from the coffee-plant species Coffea arabica, which is native to Yemen. In appearance it is very small, hard, round with an irregular shape, and olive green to pale yellow in color." Somehow Mocha came to mean chocolate flavored coffee. Kinda like apple cinnamon bourbon.

I have a goose neck kettle, but not electric so not particularly expensive.
That said, my Aeropress works fine as well!

is there not some need to have a consistent even flow or something like that? Or is that just a marketing ploy by the makers of those goose necked kettles?

If you have a v60, and some filters, give it a shot some time when you have a bit of spare time. I like this recipe for it's simplicity, and the great cup it provides.

I've been alternating between the pour over method, and the Aero press. The Aero press does real well for a cup at a time.
I sure do wish I could find that cafe du monde coffee up here in KS. One of the local groceries used to carry it. I came back from a visit to N'awlins with a real taste for chicory coffee and beignets. I'll do a little poking around. I have a good hunch that in this day & age the good folks at the Cafe du Monde do a roaring internet trade.

I use a drip machine my wife wanted me to get a couple of years ago. It works great, offering adjustments for different kinds of coffee consistency. If I want to get fancy, I simply use a French Press. You can't beat the rich oily finish on a cup of French Press, as long as you're patient.

I wonder if I could drink chicory coffee without it aggravating my reflux. May have to look into that.

Once you go to pour over it is really hard to go back. The coffee taste is cleaner and full bodied just the way I prefer, the stronger the better. I highly recommend everyone switch. True, it does require a little patience, but like a pipe it is worth all the time and truly a fine companion with that morning first pipe.

Both have served me well for almost 20 years, but that is just my nature I suppose.

@lonewolf I agree, though I am a new convert to pourover. Very glad I took the plunge on a V60, decent grinder, and good coffee!
