Which will Zarnicky liking best,Peterson De Luxe Navy Rolls or A & C Petersen Escudo Navy Deluxe? Zarnicky likes sweet mild aromatics but wanting to try Virginia-Perique. I experimenting with different kinds of tobacco to see if I liking. What best way to pack this kind of tobacco?
I also liking Country Squire Hunting Creek. It is delicious. Here is review from Country Squire.
"Hunting Creek (English Aromatic) A truly exotic cocktail of tobacco; full-flavored, yet mild. We refer to this blend as a “hybrid” because it has characteristics of English and Aromatic pipe blends. Semi-sweet flavors are accented by a dash of Latakia to make each bowl its own adventure. One of our most complex blends. Extremely pleasing to your companions, Hunting Creek has an intoxicating room note."

Perique can go either of a couple of ways: it can be kind of rich and raisiny, or it can be peppery. In Escudo, it tends to be peppery. It's been too long since I smoked any De Luxe Navy Rolls, but I think it was more on the raisiny side.

Both De Luxe Navy Rolls and Escudo, Escudo moreso, will not be aromatic in a topping sense. They are full flavor and sour and bready. Think like smoking sourdough bread in a pipe. Escudo is so excellent but you're stepping into a non-aromatic territory. You may really like it, or you may think it tastes too much like "real tobacco." I'd recommend hands down the Escudo over the Peterson.

English/Aromatic? Sounds a blt like a contradiction in terms. Frog Morton Cellar is an English aro. Zarnicky hearing good things about Frog Morton Cellar. Is sadly no longer in production. Zarnicky once walking into bar with frog on head. Bartender look at frog and saying, "Where you get that stupid thing"? Zarnicky say," It not stupid thing. It frog." Bartender say, "I was talking to the frog.'

Try Mac Baren Vanilla Roll Cake as a good crossover. It’s not insanely aromatic, and has a good VA backend. Of the two you mentioned, though, I like the Peterson better. I find it a little sweeter, and a little more in the fruity end of the perique train.

Good advice on the Rollcake, it was a big hit at the Arizona pipe club with aro and non aro smokers. It might even qualify as a desert island smoke with the in-laws stranded along with you. They really struck a nice balance on that one.

I second the sentiments on Escudo Navy De Luxe. My all-time favorite Va/Per.
