No. To me, a liner would defeat the purpose of the bamboo. All my bamboo shank pipes have gotten too nasty to smoke and it did not take much. Run some pipe cleaners soaked only with Everclear into the bamboo shank and let it sit for 5-10min to extract the resins out of the bamboo. Do that with a couple moderately soaked cleaners to start the extraction process and then follow it up with a couple Everclear'd bristle cleaners to scrub it out of there.

Gawith Hoggarth Dark Bird's Eye in a Mark Twain cob. I want many more of these Gawith Hoggarth bail top jars. This is just the epitome of pipe smoking to me. Nothing more straight forward than a reliable pipe and a reliable shag mixture that you can just grab and scoop and pinch into the pipe and light within seconds. I do really hope they start selling these jars, and maybe they already are somewhere and I haven't seen them yet.

I've done that a couple of times, but the bamboo just seems to soak up the juice and turn nasty after a couple of bowls. It's not worth it to have to do a deep cleaning every time I smoke it. It's a Rockcob, and I'm thinking about replacing the bamboo with a MM shank.

Had a second bowl of Oak Alley in the Country Gent while emptying flower pots and cleaning garden boxes. Done with yard work for the day. Gonna have some Orlik Golden Sliced in one of mine before I help with dinner.

Ascanian Castle Blend No 2 in a St. Claude squat bulldog. You've been smoking a lot of briars lately, Ted. I have. I eschewed them for so long but I had quite a few and I’ve actually bought a few and I’ve been enjoying them. I’ve been thinking about getting a Zulu/yachtsman ever since I saw the one you made.

Middleton's Kentucky Club Mixture in a MM Diplomat, I bought several Middleton tubs about a year before they stopped making some of what I thought was some pretty good blends, just my thoughts though.

C&D Yale Mixture in my James Upshall Billiard. I had a great time at the 74th annual IAPSC World Championship Smoking Contest. I was the judge as I didn’t feel up to trying to smoke that long. Six weeks since I got out of the hospital from pneumonia and my lungs still don’t like being in super smokey rooms. I’m fine at home with my pipe going for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, but get around multiple smokers and I’m feeling it.
