I mentioned in another thread the pipes a friend at work has been making. He has been at it three months and has built at least 20. His stems get better with each one, the shapes more uniform with each effort and the bowl/shank junctures are improving. He has figured out some cool rustication and is doing a good job with stains and finishes. He just replaced his wood lathe with a metal lathe and has acquired a blasting cabinet and sand blaster. I don’t have a picture of any of his blasted pipes, but they looked pretty good. I turned him on to pipe smoking early this year and he is really into all aspects of the hobby. Makes me smile, seeing a young, 30 year old guy, embrace the hobby with this much enthusiasm.
