For those who honor this autumn holiday, for all the imps, ghosts, ghouls, spooks, rascals, and assorted spirits out there, enjoy your day and night.
I am not really in to it. I Celebrate with locked front gate and a bag of candy on the gate mailbox, help yourself, kids. . Windows closed, shades drawn, lights out, and me watching several old Universal movies from the 1930s and 1940s with all manner of those wonderful characters.

We're carving a couple jack o' lanterns right now. Got a decent harvest of seeds for roasting. The front yard is decorated. We'll be sitting out on the porch, handing out treats. Making chili for dinner. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate, expecting light, scattered rain throughout the day.

His red satin lined vampire cape and ruffled vampire shirt are still in the closet. When we lived in the Houston area the number of kids were dropping off, and since we moved up here we don't get any out in the woods. The city has a "Trunk or Treat" on the Square, but it got canceled because of rain this year. All the kids are very disappointed. They are talking about refurbishing an abandoned grocery store for indoor events like this.

I remember when I was young hearing that Detroit was always a really bad night for the fire department. Does that still happen?

It's my favorite holiday, but I'm not feeling it this year. With everything going on, I forgot it was even here. Happy Bday to my mom too

I have always loved Halloween since being a child. Used to see lots of kids coming round in the neighborhood, but it drooped off for a long time. Now its pick ng up again. Glad to see it.

Not a lot of kid traffic here, so keeping the lights on is more of a hassle...when Duke was alive it was ridiculous, he would scare the hounds of hell when the doorbell rang, with his huge chest...so we will have a quiet night, a few blocks over though everyone goes all out with a huge 3 block party, so that is where the grandkids are going.
Going to have to check out a classic movie to watch, while me smokes me pipe!

Our house is on a busy main road, so there aren't any children stopping. At the weekend we went to a friends caravan, and the park was buzzing with children going round the caravans. It reminded me of the scenes in ET or Stranger Things.

It's my favorite holiday, but I'm not feeling it this year. With everything going on, I forgot it was even here. Happy Bday to my mom too It was like that for me this year as well. But I took my 3-year-old granddaughter out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood in the afternoon, and then she was my assistant handing out candy for the evening, and seemed even more thrilled to be giving treats out than to be getting them.
Later, after everyone was in bed, and today, I've been reflecting on the old traditions surrounding Halloween, All Saints' and All Souls' Day, and the Day(s) of the Dead, the old beliefs about the veil between the worlds being thinner at this time of the year, and the idea that we can celebrate our dead and feel close to them rather than only grieve our separation from them. So in a way it's been a more meaningful and satisfying holiday this time around. Maybe it resonates a little more as I get closer to that borderland.

Drove into town yesterday for errands which included candy for the kids Halloween Night. Unfortunately, the line at the store Pharmacy was 2:53 minutes long. Then I had to visit my ex on business, By the time I got home, way late. No kids. So what to do with all this candy?

Like every year in the past, nobody showed up. we didn't even buy any candy this year. we live on the kind of a dead-end road where Halloween movies are made, but it doesn't rake in the little kids.

I had good turnout weather-wise. Some great costumes, a few same on the parents. what left was a few AlmondJoys. Not a big fan of coconut, managed with toothbrush & floss first thing in a.m. Police patrols out, all wound up calm, no messing with my truck.
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY easy night overall

We're a half mile from the nearest neighbor and a mile from the nearest kids, with a hundred yard tree lined driveway. We don't expect to ever see any here.

It was a complete nothingburger here. Too far in the outback for kids to make any sort of rounds. Never is much of a thing here, so I don’t even prep for it.
