I also have an affinity to the Horn styles. I have a couple of Zulu's, one of which is my designated "Golfin" pipe. I also have a Yacht that was a total wreck when I got it, but holy cow did it turn out beautiful! Lastly, I'm drawn to pretty much any "Bent" pipe that has the right lines. This includes Billiards, Dublins and Brandy's. Ok, ok, truth be told, I like pretty much any Bent pipe with nice lines. So, which shapes make yer hear go pitter patter?

Of course all those slightly curved Danish shapes that I can't afford. And oh yes anything with bamboo! But heck, looking at my current herd it's probably a straight billiard/lovat/lumberman/canadian/cob Straight billiards make up the majority of my pipes at quick glance, but I'll have to go count.

As long as I stay on my meds, no pipes actually sing to me.

I also have a Yacht that was a total wreck when I got it, but holy cow did it turn out beautiful! I've never heard of a yacht shape, what's that? I'm the same. Bent pipes feel more comfortable to me, and certainly look nicer. Having said that thought, most of my collection is straight. Go figure.

I know that there are many of you out there that have that one or three pipes that you really enjoy smoking. Our very own JimInks obviously has quite the collection, but seems to regularly smoke his "Formerly owned by William Conrad" beauty. I'm not talkin about what pipe necessarily smokes the best, but what pipe shape really grabs you? For me, ruling out some of the incredible artisan creations by folks here and others like Mark Balkovec, I am drawn to a few different shapes. Firstly, there's something about a Bent Bulldog. I don't know if I can put into words what makes em push my buttons, but as I look over at my stable of restored smokers, and those in cue, I realize that I now have a dozen or so. Some of em are just simple drugstore varieties, others are real beauties with amazing grain and flowing lines. Heck, one of them that I recently broght back to life is wrapped in leather and is almost too pretty to smoke. (almost [ ] ) I also have an affinity to the Horn styles. [] So, which shapes make yer hear go pitter patter? (edited when I realized that I hadn't pasted it correctly. )

I think it's technically a "Yachtsman" but commonly referred to as simply a "Yacht" Here's a few pics of my "Zulu". It's become my designated golfin pipe. Gets treated pretty nice, only had MM 965 smoked in it here lately.

I've always been attracted to a big fat slightly bent apple. The Dunhill 6401 is a favorite along with a really chubby Castello shape 30.

They are kind of worlds apart, but...
I like Canadians, and lumberman's
and
Bulldog, Rhodesians
Come to think of it, I like a bent, wish I had a gourd calabash, like my churchwardens....I guess i am an an ecleptomaniac.

My briar collection has shrunk significantly over the past year but the shapes I've held onto are basically the same as trailboss, Canadian, Lumberman, bulldog and Rhodesian - Classics which have stood the test of time. Meers are another question. I tend to veer away from standard norms with these. It's part of the fun.

There's no one shape that has greater appeal to me. But some pipes, by virtue of their finish or detail, give me a lot of pleasure. Like this Castello Occhio di Pernice: or this Lee Von Erck: or this Paul Tatum:

I'm not much for freehand shapes, but put a thinner, straight stem on that Tatum and I would smoke the shite out of it.
Nice pipes, Jesse. That Von Erck has a killer blast on it.

oh! I like that yacht! I think my new pipe is similar to that shape, so yeah, I really like that. it was instant love when i saw my Black Beauty. I like bent pipes, been leaning toward bent dublins lately.

Them pipes are really nice...wow, the birdseye on the one is pretty stunning. That bulldog that RD produced is pretty badass.

Well, way too many shapes "sing" to me. Even the one´s I truly despised (like Oom Pauls) got me eventually with the siren´s call. If I´d have to stick to one shape only for the rest of my life it would be a Bulldog, the shape that is the most "English" to me.

My collection is predominantly 60-70's Danish and American freehands. I Have to say I enjoy the freehand's; as well as a freehand Rhodesian. The Rhodesian is my favorite conventional shape.
