I'm happy to participate, provided I can obtain the blends in question.

I left some thoughts on the linked thread. I'd be happy to participate if we laid out a time period in advance and most of the blends appealed to me (lol).

Really no interest for me. Usually 10 out of 12 of the choices aren't anything I want to smoke. But y'all go ahead.

I can chime in, but I am an “I like it”, or “I don’t like it” kinda guy… no raisiny, figgy, banana pudding while riding a unicorn reviews from me.

What are we supposed to do by participating in this type of thing? Only smoke one tobacco for that whole month or what? I never joined in on the first rounds and looking through a few pages I don't see what anyone was doing by choosing blends of the month anyway?

I think we had separate threads for each month, but I cant remember. That was a whole lot of stress ago. You don't have to smoke only that blend, it's just one to smoke and talk about during that time.
It was in my early days, so it helped me identify flavors that I couldn't figure out myself.
Now, things are simple. I either like em, or I dont.

Doubt I’ll participate unless I already own the blend.

Well, right off the bat I'd say the commitment will likely falter if we're posting about this now, and then expecting to wait until January to start this up. I'd say stick with Blend of the Month, and just go ahead and choose one for December next month. Even this would leave maybe 5-10 people participating by two weeks from now I'd imagine. There are only about...what, 15 of us in general that smoke daily and post in the What Are You Smoking? thread? This isn't to say I'm not behind the idea but I want to be realistic in expectations. mcganksta should go ahead and select a December blend and it gives everyone two weeks to determine they have it already, or they wish to acquire it.

It seems it could be fun if people don’t get too serious about it and keep it fun. I’ll play. I agree with Zach above.

If I have it I would be willing to open it and try it with the group. Just made a couple of orders doubt if I will be able to order anything else this year. Saving for a new pipe at the end of winter.

What Gypo says above leads me to a suggestion. Why don't we agree to a type of tobacco for each month, with some specificity, and each participant picks the tobacco they want to review or has in their cellar to review. In other words, a type might be a VaPer or a VaPer Balkan. Thoughts? That way we're each working with what we have or want, and w can give each other a broader range of ideas and insights with these reviews. Perhaps start a thread on each month/blend type.

I understand your point, but commitment all but halted, if you look at my post in the linked thread, you will see there was no activity for almost 2 years, so I don't see waiting 2 months as much of a non-starter. Truth be told, I am not sure there is really enough interest to pull it off at all, it was just a thought, an idea. There are a few post where people are willing, but "only if".... there is no way to cater to the caveats, or more truthfully, I am not sure it would be worth the work and time. I will let this idea fade back into the murky water T

I appreciate the effort by da gangsta to keep things rolling for the hobby, no harm in starting a thread, and no need to get a consensus.
But in the spirit of brotherhood of the briar, as the spirit compels, contribute or choose not to.
I will contribute if I have something meaningful to add, remain silent when I can gain more by listening than speaking.

I thought it was a great idea and still do. My only “caveat” was let’s keep it fun. It doesn’t have to all be figured out or done right to get it going. I’m still in.

OK, I know it's always hard to start one of these things, so let's make it super simple and maybe we'll get some participation. The first BOM is for December and includes holiday blends. Limited edition or always out there, or seasonal issues. Let us know what holiday blend you like and why. Tell us how it smokes. Post your results here. I'm going to smoke and describe Strauss Tobacconist Wenceslaus mixture. Cheers all.

I may crack a 2007 tin of Christmas Cheer this year, but I will definitely be popping a tin of this years C&D Jolly Old St. Nicholas sometime in the next couple weeks. I'm game. I've also got some opened Golden Days of Yore jarred from 2020 Christmas.

So it's official, the next blend of the month is McClelland's Christmas Cheer? Well, I'm ready to play! 😁

I'm down to two tins left. McClelland Christmas Cheer 2007, and 2010. Really itching to open this Jolly Old St. Nicholas.

I have a few tins of different year Cheer, I also have a couple of jars. I started after McClelland closed, but what can say? I convinced some of you to like me *shrug*
I also have Golden Days of Yore and Jolly Old Saint Nick that I wouldn't mind cracking open and sharing some out of.

So it's official, the next blend of the month is McClelland's Christmas Cheer? Well, I'm ready to play! 😁 I believe according to the post below its any holiday blend, Christmas Cheer is the only one I have so that's what I called out.
