Nvm. He corrected his post and said he meant 2020.
Ehhhh... I was hoping for a straight red, not a VaPer

I heard some grumblings that the last few versions had perique was too young in the cringle flake, and some were hoping for straight VA.'s this time around. I always figure to toss any Virginia, Vaper, Va-bur to the back of the cellar. I cannot count the times I asked others that have cracked new releases their opinions.
The comeback is often..."It could have used more time in the tin".
I already have plenty others to go to while the tin goes into hibernation.

Well, it seems I may have been wrong about the blend o'the Month....at least wrong in a good way. Maybe doing like, Dec is being handled, and just throwing out a style and not a blend? Dec-Christmas, Jan and Feb can be whatever Aro and non-aro is decided like Maple and Latika March, can be something more Irish....Just throwing things out there, but you guys seem to have taken the thread and ran with it and for that I am happy!

The original BOM was a way to try new tobaccos that we might not have tried before (or for people to introduce others to new blends that they like)
Someone would have suggested a blend for everyone to either purchase or smoke that month and write their thoughts on the blend during the month. It was as simple as that.

The trouble is, I dont smoke enough for the amount of tobacco I have, and with whats coming, and finances, I cant see buying much more. So I will likely be out most of the time anyhow. I got lucky this time and had some in my cellar already.

I got lucky this time and had some in my cellar already. That was always my issue. I only smoke the odd time in the summer, and a lot of blends aren't available to me, so that made it difficult. Plus, I've so many open blends I don't want to open any more. That said, what I DID do was buy the tobacco each month to have for future smokes.

Looks like this one died on the vine. You all enjoy whatever you want this holiday season.

Maybe something more informal/less specific - like "flavor of the month" (or quarter). Pick something, like Cherry or English Aromatic or Christmas Holiday blend. Then we could recommend/discuss our favorites and people could buy a recommended blend - if they wanted - and report their findings.

I'd give it a go again. I agree with choosing a type of blend or two instead of one specific blend.

Been smoking the C&D Jolly Old St. Nicholas, & Sutliff Cringle Flake Holiday Edition 2022 for Christmas season themed blends so far this month. Many others smoked normally in between but these two are pretty good. I'll post more of a review of these two here along the way towards the wrap of the month so long as I remember.

Just popped open the SPC Plum Pudding Christmas Spirit. Absolutely delicious. Is it worth 10 an ounce? Maybe. Wish I'd bought more.

If we're doing Holiday blends I dug up C&D Jolly St. Nick and Corn Cob Pipe, Norman Rockwell Santa Surprise, Boswells Christmas Cookie and 2019 Cringle Flake. I'll try to give my opinions on these before Christmas.

So, is a Christmas blend something cased/topped with holiday spices or just something with a Christmas-y name?

So, is a Christmas blend something cased/topped with holiday spices or just something with a Christmas-y name? Both, if only we include things like Christmas Cheer and Cringle Flake. I haven't tried C&D We Three Kings yet but right now being able to get Jolly Old St. Nicholas and We Three Kings for only $9.20 per tin is the best choice right now.

Been sampling my 2015 vintage Christmas cheer off and on. I have to be in the mood for it to be really good, but overall I am enjoying the blend

I tried the Cordial Friends, a Christmas Holiday blend - from Country Squire. From their website: www.thecountrysquireonline.com/product/cordial-friends-holiday-2022/"A decadent treat featuring various liquors, cocoa, and mulled fruit. This Cavendish-Virginia mixture is a rich treat!"
It's sold in 2 oz "units" for $10.99/unit. It's still in stock. Pouch note is an awesome fullbodied fruit and cocoa/chocolate aroma. The tobacco is moist. Flavor is fruity with a chocolate note that is only slightly in the background, mellowing out the fruit. It's fairly sweet, but with a nice tartness. The smoke aroma is a nice/interesting combination of the fruit and chocolate. Later in the smoke, I had a little gurgling. My wife approves of the room note. I'll be smoking a lot of it this Christmas season - and ordering more next year.

Had a bowl of last year's Peretti's Thanksgiving Day tonight. It's subtle but tasty... Decent va / bur with casings that Peretti's says are mostly fruit juices. That seems plausible. It's not destined to be a favorite as it's just very different from the latakia and orientals I usually like, but a good change of pace that goes well with the chill air and all the Xmas lights when I walk the dog around the neighborhood late at night.
I've got some Golden Days of Yore on tap too.

I'm smoking the 2020 C&D Golden Days of Yore in the 2021 Missouri Meerschaum Limited Edition Christmas Morganton Caroler almost-churchwarden cob. The Golden Days of Yore is likely my favorite Christmas blend that actually mildly tastes like warming spices and tastes and smells like Christmas, while also containing my favorite tobacco profile where I fully taste tobacco and not just goop. I do like the Jolly Old St.Nicholas but it's much more sauced and not at all like Golden Days of Yore. Golden Days of Yore is more like C&D Riverboat Gambler turned into a Christmas blend. Burley, red & bright Virginias, Kentucky, Turkish Katerini Oriental leaf, and just a tiny little whispy hint of black cavendish. They made a special spices casing for it with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, chocolate, ginger and rum but you can just barely tell it's there at all. By half way through a bowl you more get the tastes that you're smoking a C&D burley/VA/Kentucky/oriental mixture that just has slight hints of spices and sweet. Whereas, this year's Jolly Old St. Nicholas is largely black cavendish and really full of orange liquor and ginger and sticky.

Strauss Tobacconist Wenceslas in a Meerschaum. Has some citrus and spices. Not sure if it has cocoa or coffee in it. But very nice on a cold winter night.
