I've been through tornadoes in the Midwest and hurricanes on the coast; both are scary as hell.
And every time I'm in one of those situations, I find a lot of comfort in the fact that I don't have to leave until it's my time to go.
And I'm still here.

OK, folks in North Carolina and thereabouts...get your plan in place...water, food, meds, pets (please don't forget the pets, after Katrina and all those poor dogs drowning...no excuse for that negligent and selfish behavior). Those with generators...share with your neighbors, they may have meds that need to be refrigerated. These storms are never about "me only". We are all one big community.

Though based on a past event, I posted as I did due to my empathy for those caught in terrible weather situations.Being from Florida and Kansas, I can truly understand. So yes I was aware of the date. As I am reading through past threads,if the thread interests me or I think it might be of interest to others, I reply;Cuts down on redundant threads. In other words, most times,I only reply to posts that are relatively timeless and of interest not birthdays etc. You'll get mixed opinions on this. On the one hand, it helps bring up topics that have already been discussed so we don't have repeating threads. On the other hand, I don't mind topics being covered again because even the contributors the first time around may have changed their view or would reply differently, and you're giving them a chance to do so. On the other hand (if you have 3 hands), some threads are better left in the past. On the other hand, there are 4 fingers and a thumb. On the foot, theres a whole new perspective. lol

It always interests me what sort of weather frightens people. I've lived in western Kansas all my life and our typical response to a tornado warning is to grab a camera and head to the yard to get a picture or video. We head to the basement when we see the tornado. On the other hand, earthquakes and hurricanes scare the crap out of me. I've been known to watch outside for them but, there's is only one problem with this,.................when they drop out of the sky right into your lap. Yeah, I heard the freight train coming but, it didn't appear till it dropped right down in front of me about 25 yards away. Was the most frightening thing I've ever experienced. And then it jumped and was gone just that fast.
No damaging weather where I'm at now but, there's just something about Texas that calls me back.

True that. I remember mowing the grass on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon. I kept noticing this strange shaped little cloud as I was mowing, it was sort of an upside down mushroom shape. All of a sudden the sirens were going off (fortunately I could hear better back then and heard them over the mower) and a thin white rope tornado popped out of the cloud. Also fortunately it was a couple of miles north of town and did no damage. All the excitement was over in less than a half hour and I went back to mowing. Strange!

Went food shopping this morning.......the bread isle was completely empty. Everyone here in NC is in panic mode, it’s possible this hurricane can be a category 4 if/when it hits NC. Let’s hope it heads back out to sea!!! Both the US and European radar system has Raleigh being in the eye of the storm.....it’s possible since both systems have it pegged exactly the same, this hurricane can be the worst to hit NC in over a century.

I'll be praying for all in the path. I've been through many of them...they are ALL scary. Be safe people, if you don't have it yet...don't bother, you won't find it. People are gonna get stupid from this point on...don't get involved.

Be safe, all the best to you and your family.

Please be safe , please pack up and stay off the road. Gas the cars up and either buckle down or start driving.

Spoke to AJ today...he is right in dead center for where the storm is supposed to hit. He's ready with pipe in hand and more tobacco than any one human can smoke. Prayers for him and all other in the path.

I suppose internet could be hit and miss (probably more miss) so I'm assuming he won't be tucked away with his laptop or phone browsing the patch. Thinking of you AJ.

Bolt the door, batten down the hatches, reef the mainsail, break out the candles and lanterns and don't forget to splice the mainbrace. No one should face a typhoon or hurricane completely sober.

Thanks!! Already have enough dry goods to last 10 plus days and gallons of fresh water. The tub will be filled with water for “ dookie “ flushing only...lol. Six Cree LED flashlights with plenty of new Duracell batteries. ALL mobile devices will be fully charged and used for emergency purposes only. Still have a battery operated radio👍👍 Also two DC 30,000mah power storage units I purchased from FastTech. Enough weapons and ammo just in case of looting.....you never know!
