This has been such a stressful day that at times I couldn't relax enough to even smoke my pipe. Tornados were all around me.We were under a watch then a warning.I thought about that old saying...Grab your arse and kiss the world goodbye...I don't know if we were blessed or just plain lucky but the tornados held off until they got past me before they hit. There's some trees and power polls down from wind and a few thousand homes without power. The good news is that me and my family and my neighbors are ok.My home is intact.Folks I don't get scared very much. Some folks take that to mean I don't care. These darn tornados though sneak up on you from out of nowhere. They scare the heck out of me .If you don't get them in your area consider yourself lucky.

I was wondering how everyone around the country made out. We've only had one small one in this area years ago, but I'll never forget the destruction done in just a couple minutes. Glad you're safe and sound.

Glad you made it through it, I had one drop down only about 25 or so yards from me just last month and before I knew it, it was gone, crossed the road and took out several homes here. My guardian Angel was certainly sitting on my shoulder that day.

Larry, glad to hear you guys are safe and sound. I used to always say it when I lived in Buffalo, I'll take 5 feet of snow over a hurricane, tornado, earthquake or a flood.

according to TV News, Weather Chanel, newspapers, so far all the deaths been in the deep south. John "papipeguy" winters in FL; he'll probably be at the Chatzy chats soon (as will I). Adding my bests to any/all involved.

Thank god that tornados are very, very rare here in Germany. Last weekend my basement got flooded and I need to pump out the water every day until it will be reconstructed and sealed in a month or two. I keep complaining about it but I see that there is a LOT worse that could happen to your home.

We had 2 more tornados roll through here yesterday just 25 miles north of us. That makes 5 since we've been here. The locals tell us that this never happens. Lucky us.

Glad to hear you are okay, Larry.
Tornado's are pretty much a way of life here for just about half the year. Every thunderstorm seems to have the ability to drop one on top of you. It's not quite as bad as OKC or parts of Western Kansas and Nebraska, but still pretty scary. We stay prepared and always watch Fox 4 to see where exactly the storm is headed.

I am glad to hear everyone is ok. I am from Kansas and understand how troubling Tornados can be.

Take a look at the date, qmechanics...2016. However, you are still gonna be on time. (Biblical quote). We have several that is right several as in 4 right now...tropical storms that are going to turn into hurricanes very shortly. North Carolina and Va. better get ready as quick as you can. These TS's are supposed to turn into cat 4 storms due to the water temps in the Atlantic and Gulf.

Watched them across the street from me during hurricane Andrew...tore up one side of the street, but not the other...got back inside when I saw the window glass bowing back and forth.

Just hope the hurricane headed my way ends up going out to sea. Even though I’m much more inland, we always get serious flooding. I’m keeping my eyes on this storm!!

Glad you did, and I will mind my own business and just read...thanks for your reply. Hi No problem and thank you for your concern.... If you think I am in the wrong, mistaken, unaware or ____, please let me know. Typically I am not easily offended and appreciate an upfront though thoughtful response. You stepped up to the plate and delivered both.

It always interests me what sort of weather frightens people. I've lived in western Kansas all my life and our typical response to a tornado warning is to grab a camera and head to the yard to get a picture or video. We head to the basement when we see the tornado. On the other hand, earthquakes and hurricanes scare the crap out of me.

My home has been struck four times in 20 years with crippling damage. I have seen it come out of the walls inside the house. Fortunately, I am still here. Sorry about your tornado problem. Glad you came through ok.

On the one hand, it helps bring up topics that have already been discussed so we don't have repeating threads. On the other hand, I don't mind topics being covered again because even the contributors the first time around may have changed their view or would reply differently, and you're giving them a chance to do so. On the other hand (if you have 3 hands), some threads are better left in the past. On the other hand, there are 4 fingers and a thumb.
