Watched the 1964 movie "Robinson Crusoe on Mars". I have seen a few times over the decades since first released and remain impressed by the quality of the special effects, the imagination of the Writer and the enthusiasm of the actor. They made great use of Technicolor in this one. Clearly, little was known of the Mars environment at the time but that matters little in this one. Daniel Defoe would have been proud of this one. Watching it caused me to remember what is was like to be a boy of 12 or so watching in a theater for the first time. The awe.

I used to really like most of those strange movies when I was a kid. My favorite in the theater was Swiss Family Robinson. Haven't seen it since it came out.

A weird happening— for the past couple of days I will click on recent posts and there will be one that is blank. It fills in later. It’s always Ron’s.

Nah. It finally filled in. No doubt at my end. I know that when I try to load the "What Are You Listening To" thread on my phone it takes about 2 minutes for a full page to load. Probably because of all the Youtube links.

Watched the 1939 version of "Hunchback of Notre Dame" last night. What a production! Laughton will always be the only Quasimodo to me. I believe Anthony Quinn played the hunchback in a later version. I want to check that out.

HARRY BROWN, with Michael Caine as a long-retired Royal Marine wreaking revenge for the senseless murder of a friend by street louts. Not a great film, but a good one. Fine performance by Caine, of course. The first 10-15 minutes are truly remarkable film making, some of the best I have seen in many years. Brilliant. Well worth the whole thing.

The Dirty Harry/ Charles Bronson type themes I always enjoy seeing the trash taken out. I wish that it happened in real life that way.

Nowadays these themes seem as common as boy-meets-girl used to be. A sign of the times. Not a very good sign, either.

I like Liam Neeson in a role like that (Taken) but when he came out and basically America needs to be disarmed, he only showed that if he was king for a day only criminals would be armed.

What a tragedy about Neeson. He’s a much better actor than the TAKEN series would indicate. He was great in MICHAEL COLLINS. Now you never see him on a movie poster without a gun in his hand, while he spouts his anti-gun hypocrisy. Beneath contempt. I have no respect for him anymore.

Long ago I learned never to listen to actors speak or write about anything other than acting. Their political views are their own and they should keep to themselves.

"The Last Sentinel", a Yer-O-Pean production filmed on a platform in the North Sea. With American and Brit actors plus one Heine. Four soldiers remaining from a global war which has reduced the earths surface to 99 per cent ocean and two islands. Anyway, these folks have a bomb which they must detonate if the enemy comes close. They are all nuts.
My advice is to miss this one.
