I heard a song Generations of Change for the first time this month and have really enjoyed it. I prefer Noel McLoughlin's version wich isn't on YT, Ed Miller does a great job as well though.

Gord's Gold.
I know I'm a bit late when it comes to commemorating Lightfoot's passing, but I've listened to his songs so many times over the years, a purposeful relisten somehow felt hokey. I recognized and acknowledged his loss, but, musically, we lost him to age long before his death. In any case, that's what I just listened to.

The Band's self-titled album. King Harvest always gives me chills.

My stereo setup previously consisted of: Dual CS-5000 turntable with a Nagaoka MP-200 cartridge Pioneer SX 1280 Receiver Sony CD player, can’t remember the model number, but it was nice, I bought it new in the mid 90’s And for speakers, a pair of 1970’s Tannoy Eatons Then a little over a year ago, my CD player failed and I had to take it apart to get my CD out. This started my journey to a new stereo system which is kind of complete as of just now. First I bought an Audiolab 6000CDT CD transport which of course, required a DAC, so I bought a Schiit Modius. Then it was apparent my receiver needed a cleanup/attention. It’s put in a lot of years of great service. So I bought a Schiit Ragnarok Amp and started using a Sansui pre-amp that I already had with it. Then, I found an outstanding deal on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Rega Exact cartridge, so I switched out my Dual for that. Shortly after, I bought a Schiit Lokius and a a Mani. Today I added the last part, a Schiit Freya S that I got for Father’s Day. The Tannoys are of course staying. There is quite a bit of tweaking still to do, but I am listening to the album “Starfish” by The Church on CD right now on it all.

You've got a lot of Brit and a lot of Schiit in your system, Ted. I've never owned any Audiolab kit, but people seem to love it. Had a Rega integrated for a while (or was it a Creek? I've never been able to keep those 2's non-source equipment straight in my head). I know the P series is one of the all-time classics in plinth turntables. Doesn't seem like a man could go far wrong, there. And, of course, Tannoy has my heart. Love mine.
Looks like we got slightly different versions of the Freya. Didn't realize it when I commented earlier. I'm terrible with model names. Mine is the tubey one.

Blind Blake "West Coast Blues" (1926)
I've been trying to play this piece since my student days in the 1970s. Haven't got it right, yet.

I love this kind of music We met a black woman counselor in Houston who knew nothing about these old blues musicians. I made her a mix-CD and opened a whole new world for her.

The official release of GD1973-6-10, RFK Stadium. This came out Friday and I'm on the second play. The sound is a bit cleaned up from circulating tapes, which were already decent for 50yo tapes. Morning Dew opener. Phil bombs. A bright, peppy Dark Star that inevitably goes to scary places:
Wet Willie and ABB each opened--what a day! Dicky Betts and Butch Trucks sit in for the Dead's third set. Merl Saunders is also on additional keys. A little Elvis after their first time played Dylan's It Takes a lot to Laugh:

The best cover version of a song that I figured no cover could ever be made. LED Zep members look like they could be the founding fathers, and with the pork pie hats/ Jason and the friendship between Robert Plant and John… not to mention the excellence in delivery. I always get misty eyed.

I just got an original Demo LP of Naked Eyes, first album. It was unplayed and sealed. I have changed that. Interesting to me is that the two biggest hits off of this album, Always Something There to Remind Me and Promises, Promises both have intros that were removed every time I ever heard the songs played on the radio and even on the YouTube versions. There was also a lot lost in the broadcast audio.

It’s a vinyl evening. I’m playing Cream, the BBC sessions on what is one of my rarest albums. When the BBC first released these recordings, only 200 LP’s were pressed in Japan a few years prior to the full release of the recordings. This is one of the 200.

I always get misty eyed. I saw Heart on their first tour, opening for Jefferson Starship. One of if not THE best concert I ever saw. I had seats on 6th row center, so Ann and Nancy were about 30 feet away, singing "Crazy on You" in my face and I was there with 2 beautiful young women. I almost exploded. Which got me to thinking about this.

I spent the afternoon in the saddle shed, oiling a saddle and listening to Dan Seals. I hadn’t listen to him in years.
