For me, that's the ideal pipe shape. Perhaps not the ideal price...

I find it amusing that they don't list them as The White Spot. The Dunhill stamp was retired in 2011.

I find it amusing that they don't list them as The White Spot. The Dunhill stamp was retired in 2011. The only one I've ever handled is my 1950 Root Briar. I doubt I'll ever see a White Spot, which, at those prices is fine with me.

I collect large gr6, ODA and XL Collector's but I've never paid retail price for any new piece. I'd really like the 6401 but the sad reality of my life is that I'd need at least 30% to get me seriously thinking.

Dunhill's are among my favorites. I prefer to smoke group 4, but I have one group 6, a shell billiard, and it is substantial. Interestingly regarding the referenced pipe, White Spot appears to be stamped on the side. I too am surprised it is referenced as 'Dunhill' when the legal name of the brand is 'Dunhill's White Spot' and Smokingpipes usually calls them White Spot. Does this reflect perhaps a negative reaction to the new name?

Smokingpipes usually calls them White Spot. Neither in the list or the description are they called White Spot. That only appears in the stamp description. Though made in the same facility and likely by the same employees, they're no longer Dunhill pipes. Their tobacco blends are still made in exactly the same place with the same components and tins by STG but are listed as Peterson now. The Dunhill brand name separated itself from pipes and pipe smokers to focus on cigarettes and luxury fashion items. The pipes made post 2011 are not Dunhills no more than Elizabethan blend is a Dunhill tobacco.

Have to disagree with Chasingembers. Not about what Smokingpipes calls them, though I did recall them being called White Spot or Dunhill's White Spot by SP when the name changed in 2017. However they are still Dunhill pipes. Made in the same place by the same people in the same manner for decades. Still owned by Dunhill. The twist is Dunhill has been owned for some time by Richemont luxury goods (since the 60's). Dunhill White Spot is still part of Richemont. And a Dunhill pipe is as much a Dunhill product as any other Dunhill product, and as much a Dunhill pipe today as it was 50 years ago. One can say Dunhill's before a certain year are superior to Dunhill's after a certain year, well, that's personal preference. If you look at the other Richemont luxury brands, I'd say Dunhill is in good company. The fact that they had to expand their portfolio into other luxury goods in the 90's to remain viable in the marketplace only reflects good management. I should note, in the 60's Dunhill was bought by Rohnart, a luxury goods holding company which was later absorbed by Richemont. No, I'm not a Richemont stock holder. lol

I hear that Richie Rich is the CEO of Richemont. I think you got that right. He is also the richest man in the world now that Elon Musk has blown his savings on Twitter.

I only own one “White Spot”, mostly because the “magic” and implied luxury is lost on me with the branding. They’re still well-made pipes, but I prefer those which just say Dunhill (o:
As for the price, I think it’s too much unless one is collecting or very in love with understated pipes made in the English tradition.
