That blows! I enjoy Fuente cigars. Pretty much all I smoke. Curly heads & 858's on the golf course Opus X in the man cave. I prolly need to check the humidor tonight and make a run to the local B&M.

Years ago during the Cigar Boom, Fuente was one of the few companies that kept their quality up. That has kept me a customer for years.

As someone commented on the cigar aficionado link: "I am surprised that this is the first time that this has happened". I agree..
Containers and trailers get hijacked a lot of times, There are a lot of people in the supply chain that have access to digital copies of the invoice, and the tracking information. Electronics have been in the high risk category for years, but with increasing compatibility of internet connectivity on everything, I wonder if now as soon as someone connects a device that it quickly becomes very "hot"? Obviously, this wouldn't be the case for cigars.
For some of the freight that we haul, be it firearms, military weapons, chemicals that have a high risk in the hands of criminals and terrorists, we presume that there are gps tracking devices in the freight. Many carriers have them built into the trailers, but I have never seen that be the case with ocean- going containers. I would expect that going forward, that cigar manufacturers will start using these devices in their shipments, they really aren't costly and are reusable.
The import duties and taxes on cigars are very high, and I expect that alone will really make this a very high priority by the cops. Trying to "fence" a container of cigars would be pretty hard to do, and any online mention of cases of cigars for sale would definitely bring the cops running.
Definitely, I would think that it is an inside job, but there have been cases of random hijacks.... if I were to pursue such an action, my luck would probably net me a load of bubble wrap or something of that nature.
