My tax returns are pretty simple. The CPA who has done them the past few years charges me 70 dollars. That's less than he charges other folks who have more complex returns.Last week I learned that AARP sends folks around to do returns for free for seniors. So I got mine done this year for free.A savings of 70 dollars worth of tobacco.I'm just throwing this into the wind in case some one is interested for next year.

Interesting news, . Are the AARP people CPA's and do they countersign the returns?

They are filled out then double checked by some one else. They are electronically filed. To be honest I think the guy who double checked them is a CPA but I don't know that for sure. The results though are pretty much what they have been the past few years that the CPA has done them.

OK, thanks, . I just had my taxes done but I'll keep this in mind for the future. Ours are a bit more complicated and I feel lucky that I only owe $500 this year.

We were forced to amend our last three year's taxes due to a mistake through Turd-bo Tax. However, it was in our favor and we got a refund on all three years! Sometimes, using a pro is the way to go.
