As a result of the apartment flood, I've got some steel speaker stands that need work. Rust has formed on the flat surfaces of the bottom. I can sand that out and paint it easily enough. But there are also blind tapped holes under there for the feet to screw into, and those have also rusted.
What's the best way to get rid of that rust?
Maybe I should also mention these things are both heavy and unwieldy, so anything that involves a lot of manhandling, etc., is probably a nonstarter.

I would suggest Kroil. After you get it apart clean up the parts with Evap-O-Rust. Put down a double layer of heavy plastic and newspaper before using the Kroil. I have a pair of brand new speaker stands from Audio Advisor, but they're probably too tall. And they were bulky and heavy before I filled them with sand.

There's nothing to take apart.

Then the Evap-O-Rust should take care of it. Water soluble and doesn't smell.

Thanks! I've actually never heard of that one.

It's kind of new to me. I discovered it last year. I have used it on a lot of stuff since then.
