Urb, I've never understood quite what you mean about how you can't look at the shape of the Ardor saxophone, but maybe the Urano rustication and the Fantasy series shaping somehow messes with your eyes. It's a straight forward saxophone in shape and masterfully done. BlueRoomBriars sent me a handwritten letter with to let me know that it was a "very special pipe" and that they'd work on it any time if I sent it back to them. I'd wanted at least one saxophone for a very long time. I'll probably end up with more of them.
I was just smoking 1/2021 Folklore in a Mark Twain cob. The new brick from this year showed up today.

Oh, I know there's nothing wrong with the pipe. I'm sure it's a great one. It's just something about the shape of the shank and bowl registers in my visual cortex as "SKEWED IMAGE". But the stem registers as normal. My brain just can't figure it out. Doesn't seem to matter how many times I look at it. If I held it in my hands for a few seconds, it'd probably clear right up.

Fixed this antique German meerschaum again, I fixed it up and started smoking it in December, but it had an air leak around the threads where the horn stem meets the cherry branch. I’m smoking Watch City Slices in it.

I’m smoking Watch City Slices in it. Yeah the old meerschaum pipes sometimes start dropping off. I am searching for someone that does the old braided flexible stems. The pipe smokes great just smoking from the stummel, but air leaks are an issue when smoking from the stem In one of mine.

This was a thread issue that I was able to fix with some freshly waxed thread. For the flexible ones, I keep thinking about hookah flexible pipe stems. There are a lot of hookah shops around where I live and I’ve considered doing a transplant with a piece of hookah stem. There are ones that look appropriate in color available. I haven’t tried it yet, the originals seem to be glued together with rabbit glue and I haven’t figured out a way to dissolve it without boiling the stem parts.

Starting my day with Bald Headed Teacher again this morning. This has long been a favorite of mine, but lately it's my signature blend. This morning's pipe is my one and only Boswell, a pipe that's moved into my weekly rotation, after spending twenty years in the dark corners of my collection. The coffee is blond, and sweet this morning...we should all start our day with something blond and sweet, I think, Y.M.M.V.

I don't think my brunette wife would be OK with that, Herb. I'll check, though! C&D BBB in a bent Falcon Plymouth. Decaf on the side. I'm hoping we get above freezing soon. This winter feels like I never left New England. Of course family back there is getting it worse, so I'm not complaining.
